Too vomit or not ???
So last evening we had family over for dinner.....
Long story short.....they all had delicious smelling lasagna and garlic bread and red wine for dinner. I am still is the puree phase of my recovery so I decided on a cream based soup (with my protein powder) with some saltine crackers.
We started chatting away and before I knew it, I had eaten my dinner way to quickly....probably in about 10 minutes ......at which point my hubby noted how quickly I had consumed my soup.
About 5 minutes later, the pain in my pouch/stomach started and I wanted to vomit (but couldn't/didn't)..... I layed down on the couch for 30 - 45 minutes to let my stomach rest and was then able to continue the visit with my family.
My question is.....
1. Should I have made myself vomit to ease the pain from eating too much/too quickly?
or
2. Just let my stomach rest (like I did)....
Thanks.....

The only times I've vomitted was on solid food due to it being stuck. And yes, sometimes I had to force it up because it wasn't moving and I was in so much pain I couldn't stand it. Chances are, you wouldn't have been able to vomit the soup anyway. I think if you can lay down and let it digest and pass, it's best to do.

I'm not going to agree with the others on this one.
I am a dumper, so vomiting is frequent with me (though less so, recently).
I have always felt better after getting rid of the food. It happens quickly, it's all out of me in about 5 minutes, and once the pouch and my esophagus are empty again, and I let them rest for a half hour, I can actually finish the meal - slowly and carefully.
So I'm not missing the nutrition.
This phase lasts with some people for years, while others (like me) slowly lose the need to toss cookies all the time. Guess you'll see which variety you are.

Believe it or not, I got my first bite of dinner stuck last night. We had steak, I had a tiny bite, chewed the heck out of it and BAM! Stuck. My god, it's been 5 and a half years since surgery and I still get things stuck??!! LOL I thought I was going to toss my cookies, but my reflexes are pretty developed after surgery lol and I managed to get it down.
Unfreakinbelievable.

Have you ever had a dense piece of protein completely stuck, so that you feel like you're having a heart attack and can't breathe? That's when I throw it up.

Not sure if this would work with an RNY but it works with a band. When something gets stuck, I get up and walk around or run up the stairs or even do jumping jacks. It seems to help it pass through instead of coming back up. I really detest vomitting.
