what did you bring for food.
Hi,
Im just trying to plan what I need to pack for my surgery. I know what I am bringing for the hospital, But what about for my stay down south. I will be staying at my uncles for a few days when I get out. For those of you who had to travel and stay near the Hospital what did you bring. and did you bring your measuring cups ?

depends on what stage youre at, some centres have you on full fluids after gettnig out of hospital. (I was) in taht case, cream soups, instant cream of wheat, milk, yogurt,
Bring your own measuring cups, yes (although you can get med cups from the hospital, tehy're 30cc, 2 tbsp), own tiny spoon, etc.

Sorry B., I should remember this but you're at HRRH? I think you are but having a blank.
I brought the kitchen sink with me....lmao......measuring cups, baby spoons, little jars, medium jars, big jars, shake bottle, magic bullet w/accessories, ziplock bags.....lol...and here's what I used:
spoon, my shake bottle from GNC and THAT'S IT!
I think you remember when I said I couldn't eat the yogurt, cottage cheese, hot cereal (oatmeal).
So I ended up sticking to the same routine every single meal, as I am now even back home.
1/3c. premier nutrition protein shake from costco (excatly 3 medecin cups)
1/4c. cream of mushroom (exactly 2 medecin cups)
1/4c. cottage cheese (exactly 2 medecin cups) - (the cottage cheese I mentioned above that I couldn't eat was a weird company that I never tried before, big mistake - so I bought the one I normally ate/love)
I sometimes switched from cottage cheese to vegetable juice.
I didn't need any jars or bowls only because the RN's at HRRH gave me a dozen of medecin cups to bring with me, they are exactly 2tbsp. so the first couple of days you are in the hospital, you only drink 1tbsp and it's marked on the medecin cup and once out, you are on full fluids and drink 2tbsp. That's all I use and love it.
My shake bottle I used to keep the soup. I poured the can in and then added the water and shake shake shake, poured it in my little medecin cup, 15 seconds in the microwave and voila! I know they suggest skim milk but I tried it and didn't not like the taste at all...I was never a milk drinker, I think the last time I had a glass of milk was like 25 years ago...lol
What else? This is starting to look as a book...lol
If you have a cell, you can have it with you, the hospital is cell friendly - loved it myself, all my immediate family all have blackberries so we were group chatting everyday....lol
If you have group insurance to cover semi-private, keep the yellow copy they will give you. Fill out or have someone fill out the TV request card. When the lady comes in to install, present your yellow copy and your insurance will cover the TV cost.
Hope it helps..lol..and if you have more questions, keep 'em coming!
