Saunas after surgery
I have a question for those who have had the surgery. Are we allowed to take saunas after the surgery? I don't mean right after, I mean when we are well on the road to recovery? I have a suana in my house becaause i was told by my specilist I needed one for my disease. It works wonders. However, here is my delima, since our tummies are smaller inside, "egg" he is concerned that I can't do it anymore becasue of the fluid intake. Anyone out there find it ok to take a sauna?
from my recollection saunas and steam baths are/were out for several months firstly due to bacteria that a sauna/steambath harbours
...and secondly due to overheating because of the smaller amount of liquid intake for people post-op.
you will not be able to drink all the fluids your body requires to replenish being in a sauna or steambath for at least 4 months or so.
as always check with your surgeon/bariatric team

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.
life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!. Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

Thanks for your response. I know about the bacteria and other stuff as I used to sell saunas and service them. I have a sauna in my house so I know it is clean. I was asking what the time frame we can start using saunas after surgery. I already got my answer from the docs which is 3 months as long as we can take fluids in before after and during.
