Hi everyone.  I am leaving shortly to go to the walk in clinic because I do believe I have strep throat.  How do you take antibiotics?  Should I ask for liquid or capsules?  Thanks everyone. :)

I just got over a bout of diverticulitis and was on 2 antibiotics - both capsultes - my GP knows I had the surgery, has a few patients who have had it and waiting for it, and he said it would be fine.  Of course, I checked with the pharmacist and I was fine.  Just make sure you tell them everything.

Hi there

Either one is fine. You should have no problem with capsules. Just nothing timed release as it takes too long to get through our system

Feel better

I have had 2 bouts of strep throat since my surgery and both times I had liquid antibiotics.

I had throat issues a few weeks ago and took Zithromax (pills) and it didn't work so I went back and got liquid. The liquid did the trick although it tasted awful like bubblegum. I'm almost 4 years out.

Thanks everyone.  I ended up getting liquid.  When I asked him for liquid he looked at me with a smile on his face like I was being a baby so I explained that I had gastric bypass surgery 3 weeks ago and I don't think I'd be able to get pills down.  He told me that he got the lap-band 5 months ago so he can relate.  He asked why I waited to have it done here when I could have had it across the border for $10,000.  He thought I had to pay for it here, he had no idea that it was covered by OHIP.  So I educated the doctor.
