thinking
Hey Tricia,
I got freaked out last spring and decided I was going to try it on my own one last time - but I decided not to call the clinic and tell them to cancel my place in line for the surgery (just in case). I walked like crazy all summer and lost 15 lbs.. then in the winter I gained 30 lbs. So i was even heavier than before. Thank god i was still in line for surgery!

This is a weight loss forum - doesn't matter if you're going the surgical route or not, you'll always have support.

i also commend you for wanting to give it another go. Surgery is a serious choice to make, and you really do need to know, inside yourself, that it is the best option. You don't want to be regretting it, after surgery. You will always be welcome here, not a problem, like Karen said, its a weight loss forum.
We'll give you support no matter how you lose weight.
I would also suggest that you try to keep your place in line, and keep up your appts. You have right up until the anaesthetist puts the IV in your arm to change your mind.
Congrats on thinking this through fully, and exploring all your options.
ps. you're one of the wonderful people in here.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever decision you make. I know at TWH during our orientation they told us we could take time to decide to procede or at anytime we could suspend the process upto a year without going through the whole procedure again of referral and waiting another year. So something to consider.
Since I received my approval I have been working with a Dietician and my Endocrinologist and have lost almost 30lbs. Doing it with the goal of being as healthy as I can for surgery

Like most of us, I also had second thoughts before surgery and wanted to try one more time. I look at it this way...so far in my lifetime I have lost and gained back about 500 pounds. I can lose the weight if I want to but I always gain it back (and more). This is a tool for me to help me stay on track for the long haul. So this surgery was more of a way to help me not gain the weight back and less of a weight loss tool, if that makes sense. :) Only you can make the ultimate decision, I just hope you don't regret it later whatever you choose. It's a big change and you have to be ready for it with your whole head, heart and soul. All the best to you :)
I was really against surgery for years. I researched it and thought - good option, but not for me....yet. I gave it one last try to do it on my own and I was successful. In the first few months I lost 25lbs. That was great! But that's where it ended. I didnt change anything and I was gaining the weight back! I was devestated. I was working hard and it wasnt enough. So I cut back my calories to 1200 and turned into a monster! After a discussion with my GP, I agreed to at least go through the program, discuss it with the experts and make a decision. And I'm telling you...I think this will be the best decision I've ever made.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
