Hi there,

I am just a few days ahead of you. You are starting the full fluid stage. You can have cream soups. If there are any bits just strain them out. I am having cream soups, I cooked veg soup and put it in the magic bullet. You can have yogur****ered down oj or apple juice. Sugar free apple sauce and v8 Oh and all tha****er lol.
Good luck

I will be having surgery at St. Joe's Hamilton and we have a puree stage but maybe your centre does not.  Not all centres have exactly the same protocol.

Full fluids and pureeds are NOT typically the same thing.  You should call Guelph and ask them tomorrow or find someone out here who has also had the same surgeon and ask them....perhaps repost this with a request for advice from someone who shares your surgeon!?!?  Hope that helps!

i'm a little behind you sweet c - i start full fluids on sunday (surgery in guelph w/ dr reed may 29.)  i was told that you can puree at this stage as long as it's liquid and strained.  but just be careful what you puree.  i plan on sticking to what's on my list from the guelph clinic and hold off on pureed food till the soft food stage (if i need it.)  i'm so excited to add more to my menu then broth...so sick of broth

Hi again,

All Guelph patients get the same bariatric nutrion guidelines. I also went through Guelph and had surgery May 23rd.
The second stage is Full fluids. Day 14 to 27
A sample menu is on page 4 of the handout that you would have got from the nutritionist.

On the menu for days 14 to 27 you can have veg soup but it has to be Pureed.  And the cream soups must me strained.

Hope that helped.  I am sticking to exactly what is on their sample menu.  Can't do the hot cereal, can't get past the texture.  Oh well.

Good Luck

I had surgery with Dr Reed in Guelph on May 28th.  According to the guidelines I was given, full fluids from Day 14-28, whi*****ludes cream soups, sf yogurt, unsweetened applesauce and yummy V8.  Anything that isn't broth will taste golden.  Never thought I would be anxiously awaiting a bowl of cream of mushroom soup.

Page 4 of the guidelines detail exactly what you can have.

i went through the windsor clinic as well, with surgery in guelph.
i noticed that guelph/windsor does things different than other centres. the biggest difference was that i was not required to take any protein shakes during the clear or full fluids stage.
the first 2 weeks was clear fluids (sf jello, water, crystal light, broth..)
the next 2 weeks was full fluids (milk, cottage cheese, thinned cream of wheat, sf pudding, yogurt, cream soups)
then right to the soft foods. i did not have a "pureed" stage.
