It's different in each centre.  In Ottawa that's all you can have (oh and Crystal Light).

All dr's are different I was allowed to have chicken broth and add peppers and broccoli to it with a dash of pepper and roasted garlic spice,I was also allowed lettece with cucumber with lemon juice and spices, as for my optifast I added less water mixed in a crystal light I liked and ate it like a pudding it was much nicer  as long as the water was very cold....Good Luck

It's your body detoxing ,i got really bad headaches the first few days on optifast it's normal. Can also be due to caffeine withdrawal if you werent off caffeine already. The combo of detox and withdrawal is nasty it'll get better as each day passes

I had to do the Optifast also.  I drank mostly the shakes.  I used some of the sugar free coffee sweenter to change the flavor and to give it more of a variety.  My Nut also said with the vanilla shake to use a can of diet oragne soda to give it a ceamsicle flavor and it was pretty good and also used a diet cherry soda.  We were allowed green pepper and cucumbers with out optifast a cup a day only.  we were also allowed sugar fee mints.  the Migrain i did not have but i had a caffein related headache or should i say lack of it,

you will definately have major headaches if you used to consume alot of sugar, candies, pop. anything with refined sugar in it.  It takes 3-5 days for your body to adjust.

I'm on my LAST day of opti-fast today, and it wasn't easy. BUT... the headaches went away after about 3 days and I started feeling MUCH better. At first I had trouble concentrating, but once my body detoxed I was actually totally fine. Still hungry from time to time, but it was manageable. The first few days were ROUGH!

Hang in there, follow you surgeon's optifast sheet, and you'll make it!!!

With guelph, what you get on the paper is what you can have. Sorry about that, but no good news. Only broth and clear liquids. SF jello too. Not green vegi's like other centres.

The detox will last a couple days depending on how much crap you have in your system.

Try adding lots of ice to your shakes and use cold cold water, use more water than it says. Add some crystal light flavours if you have vanilla and SF caramel from Starbucks to the chocolate.

It will get better.

Hi I just had my surgery last Thursday. When I was on optifast I called the dietitian because I was told by a friend that I could have LOW SODIUM dill pickles and she was right. The dietitian said they were ok. They are only 3 calories a pickle and low in sodium. She said I could have a couple. So that is something else to try. My Dr. is Dr. Huynh at HRRH. Good luck, take care
