Revision Surgery
I am 2 and a half years out from RNY and initially lost 130 pounds by July 2010. Since then I have gained back 60 pounds and don't know what to do. I think I need revision but don't know how to ggo about getting it since I can't go back to get the Barix clinic to get it done now since OHIP doesn't cover out of country anymore. I am feeling very discouraged and like a complete failure.
I would appreciate it very much if someone could steer me in the right direction as well as offer me any advice as to how I get my weight loss going again. Thanks!

Oh the land of maintenance, or close to maintenance sucks. Re-bound seems to be common, but I see you are struggling. I'm not sure on the revision, but you're not that far out. About the same as me. Your pouch is still there. Losing the weight was the easy part, it's now living with this surgery that becomes more difficult. I'm not sure where you are, I'm guessing down by Toronto? We have a local support group for those 18 months and out. You could try to start one in your area and find others that you can relate to. There is the wls grad board here on OH, and we also have an Ontario forum that really, no one talks on, but it only takes two people.
Don't give up, you can do hard things.

I can do hard things, life is teaching me that I can.
Lost 222lbs with rny, 20 lbs regain.

Sorry to hear that you're struggling. You don't mention your eating habits, tracking your foods, etc. Perhaps instead of looking right away to a revision, you could let us know the issues you're facing and we could try to help.

Before you look at more surgery, how are your eating and exercize habits. If you are doing what you did prior to surgery, more surgery isn't the answer. I hate to say it but I doubt the surgery has failed, more likely your behaviours have changed back to your old ways
Why not do the 5 day pouch test and then start working the same diet you did when you were losing weight. Get out to the gym and get active - its the perfect time of year.
Do you do a food and exercise diary? You might want to join the threads here about getting moving and "what I ate today".
You may also want to consider therapy (even OA if you want to go more a self help) route to consider the issues behind your eating and perhaps consult a dietican experienced with bariatric patients to help you tweak your diet.
Sorry, I know this isn't likely at all what you want to hear.

Sometimes the best support you can get isn't all purple puddles and pink rainbows.
I am really sorry that you're feeling like a failure.
You're not. You did the right thing when you decided to have the surgery - at least, it was HALF right.
Here comes the other half, and we all have to face this - some have it harder than others.
But our old habits want to come back - they are comfortable and wasy for us.
Can't go there.
Try looking at this site, and try the test - you may surprise yourself.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

I doubt that you need more surgery. You probably just need to change what you are eating and make sure you are exercising.
You can still call Barix and ask to see the doc and the nutritionist. They still do follow up for us.
Coming here was a great start.
Track every single thing that you put in your mouth (both food and drink) for a week on Sparkpeople or Daily Plate. You will probably be surprised at what or how much you can eat.

I started the 5 day pouch test today. Although I think that I may just revert to a complete liquids and soft foods diet for the short term until I see some progress. I have upped my exercise and am finally sticking to my vitamin goals.
I had been giving into some old habits for a while and I had not been doing alot of exercise for a while because my back and my fibromyalgia had been bad.
I feel better today and am more positive about being able to acheive my goal weight.
Thank you to all who have taken the time to give me some advice and support.
