What do you do when your kids wanna go to McDonalds?

Ok - I went to McDonald's website to check out their nutritional calculator.  Looked up some of the stuff people have listed:

Spicy Thai salad with chicken and thai dressing 450 calories, 20g fat, 40g carbs
6 Chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce 360 calories, 21g fat, 11g carbs
small fries and one packet ketchup - 230 calories, 11g fat, 11g carbs
Chicken snack wrap 290 calories, 13g fat, 10 g carbs

Crazy.  Our kids shouldn't eat this crap either.  I won't take my son unless we are DESPERATE and he knows not to ask.  I'd much rather take him for a turkey sub or something like that.

Personally I think our kids feel too entitled to eat out!  When we were kids, eating out was a TREAT and didn't happen that often!!

not sure what nutritional stats you were looking at???

... but The Spicy Thai salad with grilled chicken that I am looking at, on their website at the moment in the PDF file

is 319 g size (230 calories)....7 carbs & 24 grams of protein (this is the full size one)

http://www.mcdonalds.ca/pdfs/NutritionFactsEN.pdf

I don't see ANYTHING with salad and chicken that has 40 carbs~!!!! the highest is 12 carbs for the SOuthwest Salad with Crispy chicken

I feel the need to clarify because I was the individual that stated I eat there almost every day

mine is a side salad with a side grilled chicken and the spicy Thai dressing is on the side and I use 2 tsp..so while your stats (I believe) are for the FULL SALAD....and thai dressing...

my side salad has 40 calories and 2 carbs

perhaps I should brown bag my lunch more often..but I don't so I found something that works well and I am not bored of eating a grilled chicken breast elmost everyday....

I have eaten this meal probably 3/4 days of every work week for the last year and have maintained my weight...not saying that it's for EVERYONE..just wanted to show that there are some decent choices even at McDonalds.

I suppose.... but you could have ordered something protein-rich.

I didn't go in and I never eat at MacDonalds so I was caught in the moment. I did remember it was ice milk. Had it been Wendys I would have ordered the Chili.  ayou have to be ready for these moments.  They don't happen often.    Dorid QC.

You're right, you do have to be ready. No offence meant, I wouldn't have ordered anything at your stage.

well, my son likes Mickey D's and I have tried different items, and none of it agrees with me.
So, I just don't eat, I'll have something to drink, water, coffee or tea.  It isn't tough to resist, cause I know if I do give in, I'll feel like crap!
Wendys' is easier...I get chili or side salad.  EAsier to go there
I go to McD's for my son...he's not on a restrictive diet, I am.  But also, I don't take him much either, it is not good period.
