OT- Cellulitis third time around
HI there
Thanks so much for the info. I am taking it seriously, I had done much googling and research. It has been frustrating, especially since it is very painful, and the one I have now on the back of my leg is very hard to dress. My boyfriend was doing that on the week end but he went home LOL
He actually was saying he hopes it's not him LOL, cause all this started after we met
Thanks again

My poor dear Joycey-Joyce.....I have no great words of wisdom but just wanted to say that I am so sorry that you are uncomfortable. I hope that it clears up very soon for you. I have heard from a few people that I know that have had it that it is very painful....I hope you are managing ok. :(
If you want me to kick your cellulitis in the shin to see if that will get it to go away and stay gone I will! LOL!
Love ya friend! Hang in there!

I had a bout of cellulitis about 3 yrs ago (my shin). The Dr. wanted to admit me to hospital but allowed me to go home if I promised to stay off my feet and go to hospital every day for IV antibiotics, followed by oral antibiotics (sorry, don't recall specific meds or doses).
Touch wood, haven't had a repeat ... do you have any conditions that affect your immune system? or diabetes? even psoriasis? could be a factor.
good luck resolving this ... it's certainly a nasty thing to have once, never mind repeatedly.

Hi there
The one I had in Feb was really bad. He kept threatening to put me in the hospital, but gave me a really strong dose of antibiotics and told me to only leave my bed to eat or go to the bathroom. I was there for 3 weeks and missed the last month of my physio for my knee because of it.
The only thing that may affect my immune system was my knee surgery. He has checked my blood for sugar. I hope we find the problem.

Hi Joyce, this may be the answer. I'm very familiar with cellulitis, both as a nurse and the wife of a man who had two very bad episodes. After he got the second bout (which also went into his lymph system) his infectious disease specialist said he had an extremely high chance of getting it again. He put him on Keflex (antibiotic), one tab a day. He's been taking this for nine years and has not had another bout with cellulitis.
Might be worth a try! Good luck,
Corinne

I worked on a med/surg ward for several years and we treated many cellulitis patients. Many were frequent flyers and it is unfortunately true that some people tend to get it multiple times. It seems to be one of those diseases that they don't seem to know why they happen, they don't know the trigger, they just know how to treat it when it happens.
Just an FYI to anyone if a part of your body, most likely a limb but it could happen anywhere, becomes red and hot and starts to swell for no particular reason get yourself to the hospital ER!

Hi Joyce,
Once you have cellulites, you are always susceptable to it. I had a tummy tuck done and I started to take out the staples myself..lol, and there was an infection. I was laid up on hospital on vancomicyn. Very strong drug. Then the other times I was on keflex. Again strong. All it takes is one little infection, like a pimple, crack in your skin, you MUST be very careful.
All the best:)
