Hi everyone
Its been a while since i've posted ...I had the operation almost 2 years ago...i lost a great amount of weight.  I went from 271 and i am now 160.  The problem is that i got down to 147 and i am afraid the weight is creaping up again.  I joined a gym and i am going to see if that helps!
thanks
Kim

Joining a gym is great, but make sure you have a plan of attack, otherwise you'll just flounder there, not see the results you want, and eventually stop going. Hence the high % of people that stop goign to the gym not long after they get a membership, and waste their money. Might be worth it to get a trainer for the first little bit, to help figure out what you need to do while there, and then follow what regimen they reccommend.

Don't forget, it's to be expected to regain about 10% of what you lost, once you hit bottom.  Not everyone regains it, but most do.

now go, Kick some ass!! :-)

Congratulations on your fantastic weight loss!  I think everyone flounders from time to time, but it looks like you're taking action early in the game.  You didn't mention how you were eating, are you still on track?  I would advise to go back to tracking if you have stopped as it can be a real eye opener.  Also, join the what are you doing/eating thread on a daily basis as its really good for accountability.  Make sure you are drinking all your water, waiting to drink after meals, just getting back to the basics.

You can do it!

Kim, try journalling your food for a week or two (daily plate, sparkpeople). This will give you a good indicator of how many calories, carbs, fat, protein you are eating daily. Sometimes when we are a few years out we don't realize how much more we can eat and how easily the food passes our lips.
Regular exercise is important but make sure it is something you like to do or you will not keep at it. Maybe hire a trainer for a few sessions to set up a routine geared to you.
Come back to support group meetings. Support from others who understand what you are going through is so very important.

Hi Kim,

Congrats on your sucess.  Joining the gym is a great start, but I agree with the other posters start tracking your daily intake with sparkpeople, I use myfitnesspal and love it.  I was in a two month stall after 8 months and started tracking my intake on a daily basis and didn't realize my carbs were so high (it was from drinking alot of milk) so I have lower my carbs and I make sure I do some cardio everyday (and strength training at least 2 a week) and after a week I started to lose again.  I'm down three more pounds and have lost another couple of inches.  Good luck.
