I am 2 years out from my RNY and am wondering about the apsorption of antibiotics. I was prescribed a dose and have been taking them but am wondering if I should have asked for liquid form. If anyone knows about this please advise. As my GP doesnt always know about my surgery and how to answer certain questions.  Any help is greatly appreciated

you might want to ask your pharmacist about it.

I've recently been on two different antibiotics and was told for both of them that they'll be fine.  The first infection cleared up and i have not had the second one retested (got to love UTI's) but i think they've worked fine.

Personally I grill my pharmacist more about how the drugs are absorbed than I drill the doctor. However I'm not sure either of them know that much of the details.

I've been on CIPRO 500mg several times for IBS and bleeding diverticulitis...had them/it before WLS quite often,  but suffer a lot less since surgery, maybe only one or two episodes in over 3 years, and the meds  prescribed have been the same and work just as well after WLS.  Ditto for erythromicin in capsule form taken with food for my advanced rosacea flare-ups...seems to work just like before WLS....and the meds are just as effective.
