Can I take Biotin before my surgery?

Hey again,

I was just wondering...

My hair has always been thin and falls out all the time...i know hair falls out after surgery too so im in double trouble considering i already have hair loss and thin hair. My question was am i allowed to start taking biotin before my surgery to get a head start on the problem or do i need to wait until after surgery to start taking anything new??
any help would be great.

You must take Biotin for a couple of months for it to start doing any good. Your surgery is in August - you might as well wait until after. Most surgeons want you to stop taking supplements 2 weeks before surgery anyways.

Hey Alycia..........pardon my ignorance but what is biotin? Is it a pill to help stop hair loss???? Are there shampoos that would help?

Hi Alycia,

Maybe you should check with your surgeon, but I can take anything up to my surgery and two days after resume taking anything without crushing or opening. (I'm allowed to anyway, lets see if I'm capable). I am thinking about giving it a headstart. Where are you buying your biotin?

From what I've heard on OH, be prepared if you take Biotin for ALL your body hair to grow more and come in thicker. After reading that I've decided to just gut out the hair loss when it happens, instead of the possibility of hair problems everywhere lol
