Hey Linda! Nice to 'see' you.... how is your progress coming along? you look great on the new pic.
I have a question re: Dr. Klein. When you have appts with him, do you normally have long wait periods in his office? The only time I saw him, I waited 3-1/2 hours!! this is true... 3-1/2 !!!! Then he gave me all of 5 mins! Needless to say, I was not impressed and wondering if he's one of those specialists who is 'normally' overbooked. I don't mean to be negative here.... I did hear some great things about his talents as a surgeon, but I'd like to know what to expect if I choose him in the end. I'll be seeing him again in June.
Also, were you in a 4-bed room and if so, were the other patients all bariatric? or is this a mixed ward?
I hope you're doing well.... tell me about where you're at right now and if you had any complications. Does his bedside manner improve over time? I look forward to hearing back.

Hi my friend ....well lets see ...I actually got in 5 minutes early at my 4 week apt with Dr Klein ..amazing huh ! His waiting room was almost empty ...now I see him tomorrow for my 3 months follow up and have booked the same time and same day of the week so lets see if I have to wait ages like at my consult (1 1/2 hours that time ) or get in early again . He is a great surgeon ..just very business like ...he does listen though ..I find him pleasant and smiling ..I know how very busy he is as he sees a lot of Cancer patients as well as us WLSers .I am very happy with him as my revision surgeon . I sailed through and am feeling great ..my only problem is that I feel my pouch is a bigger one than other "virgin" RNYers .I can eat and drink more than I feel I should at this stage ....but hey at least I rarely get the foamies or vomitting etc . He re fashions a new pouch from the original VBG pouch is maybe why .
I am on a week long stall at the moment but in 3 months have gone from 261 to 218 (down 43 pounds) and down 2 to 3 sizes 20/22 to 16/18 ..I eat well ..still enjoy my food very much ..no bowel issues just a little low iron and B12 and have zero regrets .I was in a semi private room at Humber ..with a lady who had a fibroid removed ..so non WLS ..it cost my insurance $480 for the 2 nights ...I would have much preferred a private room as her visitors were constant and noisy ..sigh . The nursing care was fair to good ..no real complaints .
I still find I have to watch what I eat ...its very like being on a constant diet ..I know most RNY ers feel the same if they are honest . I manage to get most of my protein in from food ..still struggle with water intake mainly because I never or rarely get thirsty . So far no hair loss...I am much happier looking in the mirror these days and despite being a slow loser hope to get the rest of the 70 pounds to get to my personal goal of 145 .Wishing you well on your journey my dear ...
Big hugs

Thank you Linda. You've really shed some light on Dr. Klein for me. And its good to hear that you're doing so well. I'm going to wait till I see Dr. Klein on June 17 to make my decision. I'm also waiting to hear from Dr. Pop re the VSG for me. I don't know yet if either one will be willing to do it. I don't know if VSG is a good revision after VBG but that's what I'll be finding out and then consider all other factors before deciding. Oh, what a process!
When I had the VBG done 15 years ago, it went like this.... 1.2.3.BANG! I'm on the table! No kidding, hardly any wait! Unfortunately, there was hardly any preparation or after support either! These are different times for sure.
Thanks again Linda.... keep me posted on things.

I hope you don't mind me sticking my 2 cents in here. I saw Dr. Klein last week for one of my follow-up appointments. I waited less than an hour. I too found him to be very business like and to the point at my other appointments but this time, he was actually joking around. When he saw me he said "you don't look like one of my patients" (in reference to my weight loss) to which I replied, "well, it's your fault!" lol When I see the number of patients waiting to see him and understand how many times he must repeat the same info, I figured he must feel like he is on a never-ending loop. This time, I brought my before/after photo to show him how he does make a difference. He stopped, looked at it and said "Wow". I made sure to tell him what a difference he has made in my life.
Keep in mind that I am from a small town and I am used to things being done much differently than in the big city, but if I had to do it all over again, I would choose Dr. Klein in a heartbeat!
