Dr Simman did my panniculectomy. Although he does not do a lot of post-WLS procedures, he did a great job (the incision looks really good). My complaint with him was that he decied at the last minute (litera lly, as he was marking me in the surgical prep area) NOT to do the expected mons lift with it (even though I had offered to cover payment for that separately and had undergone the procedure to have an IVC filter put in so that he would be more confortable cutting through a large vein (long story). Although I was not happy about it (and had to undergo a second sugery with another surgeon just a few weeks later in order to have it done), I would use him again. He is not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy, but he is a good surgeon (and he's a wound specialist... handy in case something goes wrong).

Hi Robin,
Sounds like your appointment went alright. What class are you talking about? Is there a class for revision patients as well? Did you have an endoscope done at CC By Dr. Schauer? I'm wondering if there are preops for that too. I dont' know a lot about revisions but I'm trying to be a quick study. I'm thinking my pouch has no bottom... and everything just drops right through. I have no restriction and could eat all day and never be satisfied or feel full.
Today Kim called me from CC. Go figure I was at the YMCA for my morning workout /swim. I try to exercise, watch what I eat and stay away from the dreaded scale as it's in a climb cycle. I hope Dr. Schauer will see me. Kim needed my approval letter to go to Dr. Schauer...but it does say "initial consult" and all other procedures need prior authorizations.
Is there anything you can share about the revision program at CC? Who knows maybe we'll both be at the class during the first of the year. Thanks for your replies... I appreciate all that you've been so willing to share. Kathy

Thanks Tammy. I live across the border in Indiana so Columbus is a bit far for me to look at this time. I am definitely doing my best to check up on any doctor that I am considering for surgery.

I have never heard of Dr. Simman, the best thing I can tell you is to be sure whatever dr you choose check to be sure they are Board Certified in Plastic Surgery!! I live in the Dayton and was shocked at how many doctors perform plastic surgery without being board certified. I ended up using a doctor in Columbus who I was much more comfortable with. Be sure and ask lots of questions and ask to see pics of his work and get phone numbers of patients willing to talk to you about their surgery with that doctor! Good luck to you!

Hi Susan,
The shuttle service from the Intercontinental hotel sound like a wonderful service. I'll have to check out the Renaissance... your idea of shopping sounds nice. Checking out Cleveland sites could be fun. You've got me wondering .. I wonder how sparkly the downtown area of Cleveland is for Christmas... could be inviting I'm sure.
How are you doing after your RNY? Does Cleveland give you a book of instructions to follow post-op? I'm curious how they run their RNY program. My first RNY was done at Hamot in Erie... and it just did not give me the results I had hoped for. I pray Dr. S. can shed some light on what I might do to get some of my excess poundage off.
Thanks for your post. Kathy
