Topic: Anyone here from Ashland or nearby?
Hi everyone!  I'm a newbie to this site and was just wondering if theres anyone from the ashland / mansfield / wooster area.  I can't find any support groups that are close to me other than at the Cleveland Clinic or down in Columbus, both of which are over an hour drive one way.  Just looking for support as I start my journey toward a healthier me.  Thanks!

Kathy-

I'm glad your experience has been so positive.  So far, I cannot say the same.  There haven't been any glaring issues or anything like that, I just feel like a number rather than a person.  I'm not sure why it all seems so disconnected to me, but it does.  I haven't had my surgery yet, but as far as I know, I've completed all the testing and a awaiting insurance approval, I guess.  There really hasn't been much communication with me from the clinic so I don't know if they have all the info they need from me or not.  I guess I'm just nervous and scared about the whole thing and am very impatient regarding a timeline.  I met my surgeon on Jan. 25th, Dr. Kroh and sat with him for no more than five minutes and to my knowledge, I don't ever meet him again before surgery which I find rather disconcerting as well.  I'm hoping that I'll have more personal attention once I get insurance approval.

Fresh Start Bariatrics (Riverside) meets the third tuesday of each month. There are two groups, pre-op/early post op and the longer term post op.
I don't know if it is open to non patients, but you could always ask.

Hello!  The fashion show is our fun wrap up on Saturday night of each event!  Anyone can participate here's the scoop:

 OH FASHION SHOW INFO

The OH Fashion Shows are open to anyone who wants to participate.  After having surgery and working so hard to stay on track, you deserve to show off a bit!  We ask that you send in high resolution “before" photos and a very short bio of yourself to [email protected] and I will forward to the coordinator who is representing the event you are attending. OH will put them all together to be shown on a large screen while you strut your stuff on the catwalk to music! This starts at 8 pm on Saturday evening during each event, and we ask that you provide the outfit that you would like to be photographed in! To keep with our schedule, you may be asked to join the other models by 7:45 that evening to coordinate the lineup.

Upon submitting your photo, you are giving ObesityHelp your permission to use your likeness on our website or in our magazine.

Any other questions?  Just ask!

Honestly I don't.  I just stopped weighing myself everyday, because I was getting discouraged.  I would run what your doing by the dietician.  I know Katelyn is leaving or has left, but whoever replaced her, should have some good tips, or tell you your doing great.  I know that the closer you get to your goal weight, the slower the weight comes off.  Plus if your working out and adding muscle, muscle weighs more than fat, so you may be still losing, even though the scale isn't moving.  I also found that going to one of the meeting each month really helped me.  There is a room full of people who have been there done that, and you can kind of look into the future on what to look out for, and what they did to overcome.  I haven't been able to kick my crystal lite habit yet.  I was such a diet pepsi/ mountain due addict that crytal lite helped me kick that habit, but really I just replaced one bad habit for another not as bad habit!!!!
