Sylvia,

I also have medical mutual supermed plus and am currently waiting on insurance approval for RNY.  Its nice to hear you had a good experience with them.  I'm looking to have surgery in Cleveland, but actually live in Ashland, Ohio.

Topic: RE: Anyone had the VSG with Dr Stephen Myers?
He does a combination, yes to the leak test.
If you haven't gone to his information session, I highly recommend you do so. It is required as a first step anyway but you are in no way required to sign up for surgery.
All evaluation is done in one day at his office. He has a full time staff including dietitian, psych, etc. They handle insurance paperwork too.
As part of the program, you have 3 months membership at the workout facility on the site, along with a personal trainer.
Go to his website and sign up.
Not sure why you think he isn't experienced, he has been a gastric surgeon for 30 years.
Surgery is at Riverside and rooms are on a dedicated bariatric floor with bariatric furniture.

that's awesome!  I can't wait for mine.
I wonder if you know the answers to these questions in your process in talking with them.
Does Dr myers do a leak test after surgery?
Does Dr Myers use glue or fabric mesh or sewing over the staple line?  I was reviewing surgical techniques of other drs and they use a combination of these methods. I was wondering what Dr Myers methods were.
That's fantastic you are on your way!

First of all CONGRATS on 7 years, that's great. It's so nice to see a 7 year veteran still on track and doing well, it's people like you that keep people like me going. I am a little over 4 years post op and still on track and stay focused on my program every day, I make it my daily goal to do so, meal by meal.

Thanks for sharing your re-birthday with us and keep up the good work.

Hello all!
Just joined here today and will be @ OSU tomorrow, for the informational seminar. I was very excited to see that you lost 67 pounds in 2 months! Congrats!! Since I'm new I wanted to know if that is a more than a normal amount? I'm just trying to gage how fast I'll have to buy new clothes LOL
I have medicaid and medicare and  have 5 comorbidities, so I'm hoping it won't take to long to get scheduled.
Well thanks for reading this I'm so glad this site is here, I've gained so much info already from everyone!
Have a good day

Topic: Newbie Question re: co-morbidities
Hello BUCKEYES!!!!!!!  I'm in the process of approval for a "sleeve".  I have Fed employee BCBS.  They require a BMI of 40 or 35 with co-morbidities.  My BMI is 38 and I'm diagnosed with hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), Impaired Fasting Glucose (pre-diabetes), and PCOS.  I'm wondering if anyone has had insurance approval for such co-morbidities.  Thanks.

I just got my date with him for March 10 for a sleeve. He has been doing bariatric surgery for many years, and I feel completely comfortable having him perform my surgery.
My pre-op is on Thursday!!!
