It took six months because I had to go to binge eating classes times 4 and I had to quit smoking and have a 2 clean urine tests for nicotine. Plus getting through all of the appointments before they would submit it to my insurance.  Even thought I had a documented 6month diet weight loss program they still had me do there's.  Hope that helps. Now maybe you can help me figure out why it wont let me down load pictures???

I was sleeved by him in January.  He is an excellent surgeon.  There are other things I am not thrilled about with his practice, but as for expertise-he has it.

Did you have any pre-op diet guidelines?  Do you know why it took 6 months?  I am glad you are feeling better!

Thanks for your advice and support. I am feeling better taking the sips all the time. Crystal light weakened helps get the water in.  Now I will concentrate on taking my meds. The chewable vitamins are a tough one.  I was also given prenatals which is better any suggestions. Oh they put 5 pounds on me of fluids alone.  but oh well its a learning tool.

I am even more impressed after my pre-op visit. He has a one on one with you, does an exam, asks questions, makes eye contact and is a warm and caring person.
He even gives his patients his cell phone number and you are welcome to call any time you feel you need to.
One thing that impressed me is he wants me in extra early for a couple of bags of platelets since mine are a bit low.  He said they are probably ok, but probably isn't good enough for him, he wants ok no questions.
I have full confidence in him and his staff. You just know they are behind you 100%.

Topic: Weight loss
What is reasonable weightloss?  My highest weight was 320, and at surgery I was about 287.  10 months after surgery I am about 168.  I am thrilled, but would like to get to 130-140.  Is that to much to lose?  My surgeon said about 150.  Another question.  I know they said there would be extra skin, but does it ever shrink some.

Greetings, Dr. Myers was my surgeon for the VSG on September 16, 2008 - I couldn't be happier with my results, but more importantly with the very personalized care that I received from him.  The medical staff at Ohio Health seem to have a high opinion of him, also.  Before I made my choice, I spoke to a patient who was his second VSG patient - I was probably about his 20 - 25th patient.  I by one year post surgery, I had lost about 110 pounds and have continued to lose (although slowly!).

Something to consider when debating whether he has done enough of these particular surgeries - he has been a general surgeon for over 25 years and the Fresh Start Program was his program - Ohio Health invited him to join their team - which I think is pretty high praise.

If you would like to PM me, I would be very happy to speak to you about my experience - I could not be more pleased with my experience and results.

you need to find out what works best for you, hot decaf coffee or decafe tea, room temp water crystal light, ice cold stuff but you must keep drinking.  as soon as you body gets what it wants then you will feel better. so even though you don't feel like sipping ...SIP ANYWAY..lol
Good Luck,
Robin
