Topic: Cincinnati Weight Loss Conference 2010 & Fashion Show

The Cincinnati OH Weight Loss Conference 2010 Fashion Show is open to anyone who wants to participate.  After having surgery and working so hard to stay on track, you deserve to show off a bit!

We ask that you send in high resolution “before" photos and a very short bio of yourself to the Fashion Show Coordinator, (hey, that's me!) who is representing the event you are attending. I will send them on to the department who is putting them all together to be shown on a large screen while you strut your stuff on the catwalk to music! This starts at 8 pm on Saturday evening during the event, and we ask that you provide the outfit that you would like to be photographed in! To keep with our schedule, you may be asked to join the other models by 7:45 that evening to coordinate the lineup.Upon submitting this photo, you are giving ObesityHelp your permission to use your likeness on our website or in our magazine.

Topic: RE: Clothes

You've got a goldmine of clothes very close at hand.
In old Mason, across from St.Suzanna church on Reading Rd (42), check out the New2You store.  Once you're done there, go towards Deerfield on 42 and you'll find the St. Vincents Thrift store on the right in a strip mall, just a few miles down.  Between those two, you'll make a killing for next to nothing.  Another of my favorites is the Goodwill in Anderson/Amelia.  Take 275E to the 125/Amelia exit, go left, then take a left at the Ford Dealership.  Goodwill is just beyond Lowes.  On Saturdays (and Sundays if you drag someone 50 yrs old + w/you) clothing is half off.  That's my favorite place to get designer jeans.  Nothing is as sweet as picking up a pair of Tommy's for $2.50.

For new clothes, I love to scope out Gabriel Brothers on 42 down by 275.
When you're ready for some upscale items, go to one of the many Snooty Fox's around town.  I would give them my old clothes, and take the proceeds to buy my next size there.

Topic: RE: Who here is happy they got a Lap Band vs. other methods of WLS?
I've read some horror stories out here for sure.  We have several former bandsters *****vised to DS and the VSG and RNY boards have their own as well.  Another board, for that matter, is the Revisions board, to see who's not happy with their procedure and looking to change.  At the DS board, we have all of the other three representing as rev isions to DS.

If you're looking just for a restrictive procedure without any benefit of malabsorption or metabolic changes, then I highly recommend learning more about the VSG.

Topic: Announcing an Ohio WLS Bicycle Club
It's Official! Here is the link to the press release announcing the launch of the Akron-Canton Spin Offs Weight Loss Support Bicycle Club. My cycling pals and fellow weight loss surgery patients, Susan and Christine and I have been working for 3 months on setting up a bicycle club for weight loss surgery patients and those interested in cycling for weight loss. We invite you to take a look and join us today!

A
t one of our WLS support group meetings at Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron last summer; we discovered that we had begun cycling area trails for exercise and fun. We joined each other on many rides through the summer and fall. Other patients and friends also rode with us.

After a wonderful year of cycling, our conversation turned to how we could build on this experience and share our love of cycling. We decided to form a bicycle club. With no knowledge on how these clubs work, we set out on our journey on a snowy January day. We met every other week, visited local bicycle shops, attended bicycle maintenance repair clinics, and talked to local bicycle clubs.

Our website, www.spinoffcyclists.com is the result of this research. We worked hard to develop a diverse ride schedule that supports both beginner and intermediate riders. Our goal is to develop a person’s cycling ability and provide rides that challenge their abilities. Most importantly, we have incorporated a basic principle that all of our members must agree to: We cycle at the speed of the slowest cyclists on the ride. No riders are left behind. We are primarily a support group and place a high value on the support aspect of the club.

If you are a Northeast Ohio resident or travel to our area, we invite you to join us for a ride. We look forward to a fun and exciting year of trail rides!   Tom, (Susan and Christine)

I too started with him and then he departed Wood County Hospital and had to contend with his unresponsive office. I decided to switch to Dr. Lalor at Wood County Hospital and experienced excellent results. I would recommend that you check out Dr. Lalor as well.

Topic: RE: Mansfield Area Support
Greetings,
The Fresh Start Bariatrics program that is operated by Ohio Health at Riverside Hospital in Columbus originated in Mansfield.  They still maintain an active practice in that area and I believe that they conduct support meetings twice a month there.  Below is the link to the site and contact information.
     Hope that this helps!

I was scheduled for surgery with Dr Lane on March 15.  Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed when he up and left so suddenly.  I have switched over to Dr White, and will hopefully have my new surgery date soon.

If it is true that Amy and Dr Lane will be at Toledo Hospital, I sure as hell hope I dont run into them, cuz I might not be able to control my tongue!
