Topic: RE: OK Dayton Lurkers, where are you!
Can you tell me when and where these meetings are? I really need them and I don't know about any of these. should I call Dr. Rita's office or can you tell me. I was just there to see her today and I should have asked. I have gained some weight and really need to get back on track. I am three years out and it's not going to be easy. I should have gotten involved with the groups earlier, but my hours at work are crazy! That will change in early June, so I'd like to get started. Please let me know. I surely appreciate it. Thanks, Deb

Topic: SW Ohio WLS How about a Real Outdoor Activity Group??
I am interested in planning a camping, biking, hiking, kayaking or canoe trips. I would actually like to form a WLS Monthly group activity.
I can reserve the Sugar Creek Campsite for us on Labor Day. Sugar Camp has private camping and if I get it we have it to ourselves. The The Little Miami Canoe Rental has camping on the river, a bike path and canoe and kayaks rental's.
At Sugar Creek all the tents placed on the tree perimeter made us look like a little village.
I belong to a group called WHOA (Women's Hiking and Outdoor Activities), From that group I have a lot of experiences and know a lot of activities that can take place.
We have ridden our bikes to special music events in Dayton, to restaurants (favorite is an 18 mile round trip from Carillon Park to Chumps in Miamisburg). I have 3 bikes if anyone needs to borrow one. One bike is a cruiser, one bike a road comfort bike and the third is new. I got it last year but didn't ride it because of my weight.
I even have 2 tents (large and medium) so another thing I can share. How did I end up with so much outdoor stuff? I inheritated from my kids who left it after leaving home.
I have a fabulous kitchen tent (open or screened). I invite others to use it. No need to buy a stove or cooking utensils, etc.
Something else that was a lot of fun is to take a retreat in January to a cabin. Buck Creek is exceptional. Or how about renting a house boat in Kentucky (wow is this fun) or even just renting a pontoon boat at Corwin.
Sugar Creek has horse rentals. Could you just see all of us on horses?
Anyway if anyone is interested let me know so I can reserve the camp ground right away. I am really excited about this. The activities are endless.
This is so cool and I can't tell you how excited I am by starting a group like this.
Please send me your input!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tony,
I will be at the next Shed and Share at KMC.
Everyone I attended 3 meetings before my RNY and I thought the meetings were a blast. I am sure everyone there could attest to my exhuberence (I had to be shushed).

You hit the nail on the head. It's like Middletown just gave up and quit trying to better itself. Look around, Franklin, Springboro, Monroe, West Chester... they are all still growing and seeming to get better and Middletown just sits there and keeps getting worse and worse. It really is sad. I don't blame you one bit for wanting to get out of there ASAP :)
Yeah, I have never been to a meeting, but just recently decided I was going to check them out. If I see ya, I will try to say hello :)

Hope to meet you soon! There are a lot of us in the region you are moving to. I live in Kettering. I am hoping this summer we can plan some events like camping, hiking or biking for us. Ohio has some great parks!

Hi Brad! nice to meet you. my parents (and the rest of my fam for that matter) still live there. I was last there about a month ago. yes, it is very sad. i like being close to my family but there is no way in hell i can stay there. that town is so far from my personality, its ridiculous. This is why I am going to Columbus. Only about an hour or so away but I still get to feel like I am not in a dead city.
hopefully, I'll see you at some support group somewhere!

Hi Missy! Welcome back (kinda) lol. I live in Franklin, but was born and raised in Middletown. Not sure when the last time you were in Middletown, but it has gona quite far down hill. Everytime I go to Middletown, its like another business has shut down. Kmart was one of the recent ones. And don't get me started on the Towne Mall... its like the old City Center Mall from downtown. Its a ghost town in there. Very sad how far Middletown has fallen. I honestly don't even like to go down to Middletown much any more. So good thing it will just be temporary for you. I came back from California and stayed in Middletown for about a year last year, and I couldn't get out soon enough. Welcome back to town none-the-less!
