Thanks Jody!  I was afraid that since I hadn't done any "official" attempts that they would say no.  I do believe my husband's insurance is Medical Mutual and I think Dr. Myers said they're one that requires six months.  Which sucks cuz if approved that will put me in winter.  And that drive in the winter plus trying to get motivated to go out and exercise in the winter?  Ick!  But it will be something I have to do. 

So today I went to the seminar and am so totally psyched to have this surgery!  My only concern besides whether my insurance will cover it is they gave us forms to fill out to help speed the process up...for them to issue to the insurance agency.  Well one question they want answered is how many programs you've tried to lose weight.  Like weigh****chers etc.  And they want documentation proving you went and how long...blah blah blah.  Well my concern now is that I only went to one place...the rest I've done on my own.  So will the insurance agency think that's not a good enough try???

Does anyone have any ideas on this or is anyone like me and did qualify for the surgery?  Just wondering.

Someone from work went to OSU, a few of us went to Fresh Start. I am very happy with the FS program, especially the 3 month membership to McConnell Heart Health Center. Think I am going to join even though it is expensive. Really nice folks, great facility and classes.

Hey Jen, I hate fish, won't touch the stuff. The dietians will work with you to find foods that you like so don't sweat it. I eat chicken, refried beans, black beans, cheese, deli turkey and ham, hummus, veg, sugar free popsicles and pudding and jello, hamburger, turkey burger, black bean burger. Mostly eat from the outer perimeter of the grocery store. Yogurt, the best ever is called Chobani, got it at Kroger and I have that every day for breakfast.
Just think, that 2 hour drive will cure you of your highway fears! The six months will just fly by, mine did.
The visits are just one per month so not a bad trip at all.

My favorite lunch right now is a whole grain high fiber high protien wrap with hummus, deli meat, cheese, and roll it up. I eat half and the other half makes another meal. Also love edamame.

I am not familiar with Paramont Advantage but have Buckeye and was approved after their required 6 month MD supervised diet and exercise program. I know my surgeon said if I was on Caresource I would need to switch because they don't like to cover. Call your member services department and maybe they can help. Also speak with the person at your surgeons office who submits the approval to the insurance. If no luck insist on a different carrier or straight medicaid.
