Our team is second-to-none in both quality and experience, and these are just a few of the members of the experienced team that will be helping you each step of the way.  We now have 20 people on our staff, most of them are not only compassionate professionals but also patients of Dr. Curry!

Trace W. Curry, M.D.
Medical Director, The Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery

Minimally Invasive Weight Loss Surgeon

[email protected]

Dr. Curry is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive weight loss surgery, and is a Lap Band patient himself. He is a Cincinnati native and trained at Good Samaritan Hospital. He is the director of bariatric surgery at The Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati and JourneyLite of Cincinnati, and the Fast Track Metabolic Weight Loss Center. He has performed well over 3000 laparoscopic gastric bands, 850 laparoscopic bypasses, and 250 sleeve gastrectomies, making him one of the most experienced laparoscopic gastric band and laparoscopic gastric bypass, and sleeve gastrectomy surgeons in the country.

Dr. Curry has done more LAP BANDS® and REALIZE BANDS® than any other bariatric surgeon in Ohio, and he is the only Lap Band faculty surgeon in the region who has been chosen by Allergan (the manufacturer of the Lap Band) as well as Ethicon Endo-Surgery (the manufacturer of the Realize Band) to be a proctor to teach other surgeons to do the procedure.  He is also a sleeve gastrectomy proctor for W.L. Gore.

Dr. Curry is also well-known for his accessibility, and he frequently has patients from all over the country contacting him for advice and guidance. He even spends time on the ObesityHelp.com message board helping patients. He makes himself freely available by email so if you have any questions just write to him.  Being a patient himself gives him a truly unique perspective about the journey you are taking.

Dr. Curry's practice is certified as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.

I had gastric by-pass surgery 7/05 lost 105 pounds and have kept off all but a pesky 8-10 pounds. Could not have been happier with Dr. Curry and his staff. I was 62 and had NO problems, still feel good if I behave myself remember to chew well , eat slowly and drink later. I feel this saved my life. A year after surgery at age 63 I climbed Crazy Horse Mountain 6 miles up before that I had to stop for breath going up the stairs. Good Luck and God's speed with what ever you decide. My e-mail is [email protected] if you wish to talk directly.

I guess it depends on how big a fan of espresso you are.  I can take or leave espresso (not much of a coffee drinker in general) and am not a big fan of Click, but Tony -- who loves all sorts of coffee drinks --  *loves* Click.  (I have only tried the mocha.)

Topic: RE: Medicaid
When I first started trying to pursue the surgery it took a long, long time to get approved and part of that is because my insurance wouldn't approve me. I went from ohio medicaid to anthem insurance and then finally they approved me and after that my insurance has changed twice!. So, I wish you all the luck in the world and going through 4 long years of trying was worth every moment!

Topic: RE: Cincinnati conference
Hello from OH Events!

We're seeing some questions pop up regarding the Cincy Event.  Shortly there will be a formal announcement.  Until then, I'm here to help!

I have posted that people should share driving to help with the cost of parking, as we could not get a break on that.  We did get a room rate for doubles of $119 which for a Westin, is decent.  We do not send out physical tickets; your online purchase auto-populates onto the registration list which will be at the door on Friday and Saturday, so you can check in either day, and only once is needed.

Here in Southern California, we had a photo booth and it was such a hit, we're adding it to the other two events this year, so get your friends together for free photos!  We also had a Q & A which was packed, so we're keeping that too!  It will be offered in a smaller setting on Friday from 3 pm to 5 pm, then after main stage speakers on Saturday!

Saturday evening, we wrap up with the member fashion show and dance, from 8 pm to midnight.  Please see this link:  http://www.obesityhelp.com/events/uzone,events/action,event_details/event_id,3801/ for more information and a map!

Email [email protected] for further details.

I would love to get together with ya at your new house... geez, why don't I just invite myself, eh??  What city are you living in now?

I don't have tickets to the Cincy conference.  Not sure if I will be able to make it or not...  however, I would love to see everyone!

I am back in Ohio now!  I haven't been to the boards a lot lately, but tried to go to WV boards to find locals.  WV board is so slow (boring)!  So when I come back around I am coming back to the OH board again.  Only problem is I get jealous reading all about the get-togethers.  I will be having a party at my new house sometime this summer and of course you are all invited to trek down if you want!

PS looking forward to the Cincy conference.  Is anyone getting a room or driving home nightly?  If anyone might be interested in sharing a room let me know since I will be travelling about three hours.

Topic: quote of the day
Flee from the thoughts that that have you thinking in terms of “I
can’t" instead of “Yes, I can!" You have the capability to be
accomplished in many areas of life. If it requires change, then
recognize that you are all linked together because each person is a
being of energy. That means that you should learn to help each other
reach the positive goals they desire. Ultimately, you will be helped
with yours too. JimF
