Topic: RE: Hiking/Walking Group in Dayton?
I'm open to Saturday mornings though I'm not a morning person. Let us know the results. I'm free most evenings until bowling season starts in August then I'll have one less free night.
Topic: RE: fianlly here in Columbus and settled...
Mt. Carmel also has a Bariatric Support group - look on their website www.mchs.com and also there is an informal support group that me and others formed almost 2 years ago that has folks both pre-band and post-band from different lapband programs around Columbus. We meet at the Polaris Mall in the Food Court on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 2-4pm. We sit in the corner by Chik-Fil-A and Great Indoors (kiddie rides in that area). Ask for Heather or Kathy or if you see a table gabbing away, that is probably us. Free and easy! We like being able to compare the different programs and different stages folks are at.
I see you are RNY on your signature but you are still welcome - its a WLS friends thing for support.

Topic: RE: FREE WLS SEMINAR AT BARIATRIC TREATMENT CENTERS IN COLUMBUS
Hi there to the Riverside and Dr. Meyer's patients considering lapband surgery. I had mine at Mt. Carmel but I am good friends with several who went to Riverside's Dr. Meyer and they speak very highly of him. We actually have an informal support group that meets at the Polaris Mall on the 2nd Saturday of each month in the Food Court area (we usually bring our own drinks or buy something there) and its from 2-4pm. We sit in the corner by Chik-Fil-A and Great Indoors. (there are kiddie rides in that area). We share with pre-band and post band support for anyone who is considering or has had lapband. Bring a friend or spouse if you want to the first meeting. Ask for Kathy or Heather and you should be able to find us gathered at a table.
Topic: RE: Cedar Point - will I fit?
I just came back from Cedar Point this week on Monday and I was able to ride 8 of the 10 great roller coasters and 2 of the ones I couldn't ride due to the seatbelt not fitting across my tummy were the Dragster and the Millenium. All the others I was fine on and they had a different type of seatbelt and safety harness. Each ride has a practice seat beside the entry to the lines and you should try it. The first one I didn't do that and go embarrassed with finding out at the ride itself it was 2" too short on the seat belt and then the 2nd ride I tried the seat in advance and just did something else while family waited the hour or more for that.
I'm in size 18/20 on bottom and M/L on the top now but I carry most of my weight that I have left to lose in the abdominal area now.
My goal is to measure my stomach/hips this summer and set myself a goal by next summer to be sure I'm down by those 2-4 inches and be free to ride anything.

Topic: RE: Not scheduled (YET)
I have the EKG, the psych eval and the Dr/Dietian/Nurse all wrapped up. I have an appointment with my PCP for his release. I should get a call for scheduling this week! WoooHooo!!!
Topic: RE: Not scheduled (YET)
Best of luck in getting your surgery scheduled. I remember how emotion filled these days are for pre-op folks.
Topic: RE: support groups?
I sure hope it moves fast. Tomorrow I meet with the dietician - any hints or tips on how that part of the process works? I emailed Jean in Dr Maguire's office today to find out how soon I could schedule, but haven't heard back yet. I'm sure she spends most of her life on the phone with insurance companies!
BTW - I went to my first support group meeting last night and really enjoyed it. Bo McCoy from OH was there and we had a very large group for the Roux en Y break out. Lots of good tips and everyone is so ready to help and provide insight. I'm sure I'll keep going.

I'll be interested after surgery - whenever that may be. I'm afraid if I tried it now, I'd have a heart attack. Unless of course, you have someone designated to be in charge of providing oxygen!!!
