Sometimes you have to get approved from your healthcare provider for certain medications and certain surgeries. That is where prior authorization comes in. If you don't get this authorization you will not get the medication or surgery.
What exactly was the prior authorization?

Hey, everyone! I live in Columbus, Oh and just got approved for Medicaid through a managed care plan. I have been wanting to get the gastric bypass done for quite awhile. I need to choose a mcp. I'm leaning towards United healthcare community plan of Ohio. But there is also Molina. And Caresource. I need help choosing. Which would be better chances of getting approved. I have a bmi of 43.
Also, what were your experiences with these mcp's? What are their requirements? a
I have hypothyroidism. However, it can be regulated with proper medication. Would that prevent me from getting approved?
Anyone know of any surgeons in or near Columbus that accepts Medicaid?

Did you have to have any comorbidities?
I am on medicare and the insurance is medigold and they approved me in a week. there are others I'm sure. if your eligible for low income you might get Medicaid with a spend down. don't give up if you want this there will be a way. also some companies are financing check into that good luck sara
My doctor had to refer me to a bariatric program and I then had to do all of their requirements. I started going in July and December 17th I had my surgery.
