Dr. C question

Hi Dr. C, Wanted to know if there is anything to take for arthrits. I fell on my knee 3 weeks ago and had an MRI to see what was wrong with it and it just show arthrits. I never had this pain before and swelling. Dr had me on vicodin for the pain because we cant take anti-inflamatorys. Does the arthrits shot help with this? I am waiting a call back from my PCP who is very involved with me (more than my surgon) just wanted your input. Pattie

Patty, I can't speak for your surgeon, but what I recommend is to start with Tylenol Arthritis. If that doesn't work, the next best thing is really probably Celebrex. Dr. C

Pattie, have you looked into infrared saunas? My Mom is getting one, so I read up on them... they are suposed to really help arthritis and I have had to go off my anti inflamitories for surgery....didn't realize how achey I would be. They also increase your metabolism and raise your heart rate, burning 600 calories in 30 minutes! I found a great deal with free shipping at national pool wholesalers online... 50% off the 2 person one but only for the next 2 days. it says it takes 20 minutes to set up and just plugs in to 110. only raising your electric bill 3-5 dollars a month! I'm sold! I use to have a hot tub, but this sounds like we would use it more and costs less.... so I thought I would share, you might want to check it out. Good luck... Pam
