I am not sure if you got my e-mail about the so I am posting it here also. Our idea of switching from Caresource to Ohio Medicaid is not an option. I found out today that Ohio Medicaid is no longer offered here in Franklin County. There are only two managed care plans available here in Columbus. Caresource and a new one called Molina Healthcare. I found out why Ohio Medicaid is no longer offered in Franklin County. I got the following statement from a website. Medicaid is a joint state-federal program that provides health care for poor residents. Medicaid HMOs are intended to provide steady care for residents and hold costs down for taxpayers. Medicaid recipients who aren't in an HMO fall into the state's traditional fee-for-service plan. The fee-for-service plan offers more flexibility to patients but is usually more expensive for taxpayers. In counties where there is only one HMO, (Caresource) Medicaid patients can choose to join the HMO or use the traditional plan. In counties with more than one HMO, (Caresource and Molina Healthcare) Medicaid patients must choose one of them and cannot join the fee-for-service plan. Molina Healthcare is also seeking aproval for the following counties. Butler, Clark, Hamilton, Lorain, Montgomery, Mahoning, and Trumbull
