funny taste

I am pre-op but am supposed to start taking my vitamin supplements. Does anyone else have a bad taste in their mouth after taking the iron pill? It stays with me all night. Nasty. Also, can RNY people chew gum post-op? Thanks, Calpernia

My vitamins leave a weird "irony" taste in my mouth too. I don't know if it is the vitamins themselves or if I am just sensitive to the smell and taste of them. Hopefully it will go away for you. Personally I don't chew gum because I am always afraid that I will swallow it. At a year out from my surgery, I doubt that it would hurt me if I did, but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

All I had to take pre-op are Flinstones with Iron. They weren't that bad! Good luck with your journey! Sue

I don't have that yucky iron taste , i take bio-iron and just swallow it with some water. I also chew gum daily (sugar free gum of course) to get that coffee breath away after a hard day at work lol

I take 14 vitamins a day and I not only taste them, but I smell them with everything that comes out of me. I'm not an RNY patient, but I researched plenty and recall something about gum. I think the concern was that in accidentally swallowing it and causing a blockage.
