Rock and a hard place

I am between a rock and a hard place, I filled out WLS paperwork with OSU Hospital. I sent it in and received another packet saying my Medical Insurance would only cover "medically nesessary surgery". they requested that I gather the information and send it to my Insurer Caresource) I took it to my Primary Care Doctor, he gathered all the info. and mailed it to Caresource. They sent it back and said it had to come through the WLS Surgeon office. I took all the info to OSU and they said that they don't take care of that, that it was my responsability to take care of that before that are willing to do anything.

If they want to be like that. I would find another doctor. There are plenty of doctors out there that would take care of your paper work. That is so rude of them. My doctor took care of all my work. Best wishes Barb

That is great to hear now just to find one, I have looked into two other programs before this one, One does not take my insurance and the other one wants me to pay $300 up front just for dealing with the paperwork, but if I don't get approved I loose my $300

I went through OSU. What you need to do is have your PCP send it to OSU then OSU will send it to Caresource. That is what I did and OSU handled it. If you have problems call and ask for Shannon Suber. She is the director there at the Bariatric Clinic at OSU. Good Luck.... Hugs Julie

My PCP had sent it to OSU before and they rejected it and said that they don't handle that. I was also told by the same person that Caresource had never approved surgery through them. Thanks for the info. I will certainly try to make contact with her. i hope she can help

Jimmy, You should have the option of switching from CareSource to regular Medicaid. It's a lot easier, although painfully slow, with traditional Medicaid. Good luck, Dr. C
