Kelly, The need to eat will diminish. You are experiencing head hunger most likely. This is a huge obstacle for the majority of us when we are early post-ops. The trick is to use this time to retrain your brain. When you feel that need to eat, ask yourself if you are really hungry or why you want to eat. If you feel genuine hunger pangs you are probably hungry, but remember to limit your portions as your surgeon has instructed you to do. If you teach yourself to recognise true hunger now, you will do well. If you are not really hungry, have a list of things to do in place of eating. When those moments of weakness come you will have an out. Or, try drinking some water. This should sufficiently cure the "hunger" Give yourself options. Find something new to learn about or focus on journaling on your profile. Go for a walk or do some other kind of exercise. Put together a WLS scrapbook for yourself. Make sure you take regular pictures so you can see the changes and keep motivated during those times when you feel weak. I am thinking of teaching everyone at the support group how to make their own WLS scrapbook. My support group meets on the 3rd Monday of the month from 6-8:30 at Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church in rm 220. The first 1/2 hour is mostly just casual time for everyone to share how things are going then we have some time for education on different issues and whatever else is going to happen. I am planning lots of fun surprises for the group. Things you definitely don't want to miss. If you need more info please e-mail me privately. BTW these meetings are open to all OH members. If you know someone who is interested, feel free to bring them with you. It would be so great to meet you in person. Hugs, JAimee
