I am in amazement how much I have learned about all this stuff over the past few weeks. I am especially excited about all of the help here on these message boards. Now I know there is one for Ohio, I am thrilled. Anyway-here goes: Went to the info night at Uc Surgeons this evening and really missed Dr. Selwyn. He is the Lap Band guy at his practice. I am solidly sold on the lapband for me. Really wished I could have met him. I am concerned because there have been no lap bands actually done yet by Dr. Selwyn. If you are out there Doc Selwyn, help!! How do I know that I will receive the same support at your facility instead of others in Cinti. What I mean is that if your patients are not having lapbands yet, you also have not learned from them on the do's and dont's of being banded-right?? I know that the group support aftercare is really important for my success as a banded person. Your facilities are very convenient to my home (5 minutes) and the University Pointe Surgery Center seems so nice. But we go back to that support. I feel pretty secure in knowing that the lap band can be added to my stomach fairly easy. I watched the surgery webcast yesterday and really feel that your Laproscopic skills are what really need to be good for this surgery. ANd, do you do that special procedure where you do some kind of special stitching of the band to prevent it from slipping? Dr. Gersin knew the BIG word for that extra care to prevent the slippage but he didn't know much about the lapband since he is not doing those. ANy suggestions?? Thanks, Leesa

Leesa, I know that Dr. Selwyn is a really good doctor and you will be in good hands. I chose Dr. Curry but Dr. Selwyn was right after him on my short list. I know that the two docs are have met and exchanged notes. They both monitor this and other boards so that they understand the lapband from the patient's end. You couldn't go wrong with either. There are a couple of us lapbanders meeting for lunch August 13th (I think that's the right date). If you would like to join us, that would be great. Melissa B will post on here the details a little closer to the date. Cathy

Hi Again, Just checked all of my new e-mail and Charity and cc'd Tracy Burch who is the insurance coordinator at Dr. Curry/Deaconess and she said yes that that hosp and the doc were in my network. I am impressed with that quick response. Thanks also for the invite for lunch. I do work e/o Saturday and that is my work Sat. so I am not sure if I could meet for lunch. Give me the time and details and I can see what comes up???? Thanks Again

I know Dr. Selwyn is a great doctor but did you see Dr. Curry at Deaconess yet? He did my son and alot of others. He is so wonderful. Please call him for a consult. Its a very small hospital with a doctor with a very big heart. It is so small I walked out of the hospital with my jammies on lol. 6 months after mine Eric(my son)had the banding done. When I went to the Pre-op with him everyone remembered me. That was impressive. Its a great place for any surgery. Very private and personal. Good luck,Cindy.....Call TraceCurry, Deaconess Hospital...Cincinnati,Ohio
