Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well!!! I am having a horrible time getting my protein all in, not counting my water, I try to sip sip sip but there are days I'm lucky to get in 20 oz! I know I know, bad, but I am truely trying!! I'm going to make some jello today so maybe that will help!! But I am concerned about my protein intake, I have bought several different shakes, but can't stand a one!! I also bought strawberry and unflavored shake powders and they make me sick!! If anyone has any good recipes for the shakes I would greatly appreciate it, I am only mixing my strawberry with milk and that don't get it!!! Thanks a bunch guys! YOu guys are great!! Luv, Tabitha -48 to -50 pounds!

Hi Tabitha, I couldnt stand any either. I bought Susan Marias smoothies and they have 35 grams in them. I sort of liked them. Only choc and strawberry. You just open the fridge and popped the top and drink. I used a straw because it was the easiest way to get them down. I lived on them for the first 11 months. 2 a day. Now I sort of depend on food except for that terrible thing I drink(3 oz) everyday. 25 grams at a time. But fast in 3 gulps. I never made a shake ever/ Good luck, Cindy

Tabitha, Go to Walmart near the banannas and they sell a sugar free smoothie Mix. Its Chocolate Bananna. You add a real live bananna to it, Ice, Skin milk, and I add a scoop of protein powder and some peanut butter. It is so yummy and has lots and lots of protein in it. It tastes like something that you shouldnt be eating.. I drink one of these super protein shakes every day to give me energy for my swimming and babysitting. LOL Sometimes I even add some frozen strawberries for added nutrition. Its nice and cold and refreshing and goes down easy. BTW.. I only use a half of the packet of the smoothie mix at a time. I hope you try it and like it. It is so yummy!!! Tabitha, Can you believe it I am down to 218... I cannot imagine being this far along two months out. But I swear this swimming is melting it right off of me. I feel so incredible and having the best summer of my life. Even the heat isnt affecting me the way it would of at 310 pounds. Of course I am sweating but not having trouble breathing and it being an effort just to move. Everyday I feel so blessed that I was given this chance to have this surgery. Gotta go, Grandson playing in Dogs water again.. Argh Love ya Laura

I actually found a pretty decent one. I used Unjury vanilla protein powder and mixed it with the Crystal Light Sunrise. It tastes like an Orange Julius (if anyone has ever heard of them) or basically a orange creamsicle. Many of my patients complain about a change in taste after surgery. Erin

Tabitha, Getting in our protein can be one of the hardest things after this surgery. I have tried all kinds before and after surgery and our dietiian Erin at Dr. Curry's office mentioned a product called PROFECT made by a company called PROTICA. The web site is www.Protica.com. Actually there is a square on this web site now talking about it. All you do is click on it. It is 100 calories and 25 grams of protein. All you have to do is take about 3 quick drinks and you are done with it. My favorite flavors are Citrus Berry and blue raspberry swirl. They are a little pricey, but you may be able to get a coupon if you call the company and request one. I take 2-3 of these a day and it has really helped me not to have to worry about getting in my protein. Debra

I'm such a supporter of Pro-Stat 64!!! It's not the best tasting thing in the world, but one Tablespoon (which equals three teaspoons) gives you 8G of protein. I add one Tablespoon to an individual serving of applesauce, or orange juice. Sometimes, if I'm behind for the day, I add two Tablespoons for 15G of protein. Pro-Stat 64 comes in one-quart bottles, 32 oz, I think? The bottle's at home, so I'm going off the top of my head here! Go to google and put in Pro-Stat 64 and BUY SOME. I'm going back to Barix (Groveport, Ohio) on 8/6 for my 6-week check up and I'm going to buy one more bottle. I have one and a half bottles at home, but I go through approximately 10 ounces a week (I carry a tiny bottle in my purse, so I can add it to stuff). I bought the Wild Cherry, but in my opinion, it tastes like apple cider. Protein is so important, and I take it seriously. Don't get dehydrated!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Julie Lombardy

Hi Tabitha, Everyone is so different in what tastes good to them. I find in the summer I do best with Necter protein from bariatric eating. The Necter is fruit flavored and mixes well with water. I love the Roadside lemonade and the Fuzzy navel. In the winter I am ok with the protein that mixes with milk. Bariatric eating sells sample packs so that you can try a variety of flavors. Best to luck. But remember protein is the name of the game from now on. Keep looking until you find something you like.
