Hi everyone
I had surgery on May 25, 2005 and today, I felt something I barely remember!
I was standing by the elevator at work (I do walk up the steps but take the elevator down because of a sore knee) Anyhow, I noticed a strange feeling on my legs and I looked down and saw my calfs touching, wow.
I guess I am losing a bit in my thighs because I always used to stand with my legs apart but today I actually put them together.
Thanks for listening and I would love to hear what you all are expirencing as well.
Julie
Hi Julie! I hadn't seen you on here lately and was wondering what happened (and of course I didn't write to find out, did I?). You look incredible! I'm so glad your surgery went well. When last we wrote, I wasn't sure if you were having the surgery for sure or were just investigating.
My surgery is next Thursday. I'm having the duodenal switch performed by Dr. Maguire in Dayton. I've been researching this for over a year, so I'm ready, but I'm very nervous.
I just wanted to respond to you and let you know how beautiful you look (although you have always been a beautiful woman).
It amazes me that our lives keep crossing paths over the years.
I hope to talk to you soon (maybe once I'm on the losing side)!
Congrats on your weight loss and getting to feel your calves!
Denise

Denise,
So wonderful to see you and that great smile you have always had. Thank you so much for your comments.
I had been wondering if you were still around I had sent you an email but then I suspected you may not have recived it.
I did investigate for a while, but mostly I was always going to do it just took me a while to admit it to myself. I had RNY with Dr. Needleman, I am happy I decided to go ahead with it. I bet you will be to.
I would love to talk to you now or after you have the surgery. I miss some of those talks we used to have. Please call or contact me.
I will be thinking about you next Thursday.
Julie
Denise,
I am also having DS with Dr. Maguire... Only my date is in September. (I think I have seen you post on the DSMaguire message/email list?)
Julie,
That is so cool! You should write that down on a little calendar or something. I have a pocket calendar ready, and when my 'first moments' occur, I will write them in. Kinda like one of those 'Babys first year' things. But probably more exciting!
Congrats on your loss so far. Keep it up.
Amanda
Hi Amanda, yep, I do post on Dr. Maguire's Yahoo group sometimes. Do you come to the DS forum here? I'm not sure I remember seeing you post in this DS forum yet.
I also really like Julie's idea of making a note of those "WOW" moments as the occur. I get so much inspiration from them.
I'll keep good notes so I can help answer any questions you may have about Kettering.
Denise

"I'll keep good notes so I can help answer any questions you may have about Kettering."
Thanks Denise, that would be wonderful. I will be traveling down to Kettering plus staying there for a couple weeks post-op. Will you have to do that?
No, I haven't posted on the DS forum here... There are so many different forums on this site that I forget which ones I have posted on! I will check them out. =)
Amanda
Hi Amanda, thanks so much for the suggestion, it is really exciting when these things happen, it makes the hard work worthwhile. Good luck on your surgery, I look forward to reading your posts.
Hi Julie, Love your new photo. You look wonderful, good job. Our surgerys were very close. It looks like you are doing well to.
