First Consultation

Well today I went to my initial consultation for WLS. Everything is approved. Dr White told me everything I already knew about the surgery. Answered every last question that I had in a way that I understood and gave me the OK of Lap RNY. I was hoping to leave with a surgery date but he wants me to have a sleep study before surgery just to make sure that I don't have sleep apnea. It runs in my family even with members that are not overweight. My husband is off work the first 2 weeks of August so we were trying to plan for that date. More than likely it won't be until the end of August first part of September. I guess better safe than sorry but still wanted to get this done and over with while he is off with pay. Dr White also told me that I didn't need to be on any liquid diet before surgery just the 12 hours before surgery I couldn't eat anything. I do still have to have an upper GI, X-rays, and lots of blood work. My mom went with me today and I think after meeting Dr White she is more at ease with the WLS. Still doesn't like the fact that I am having surgery of any kind but understands that this is something I need. Well keep me in your prayers. Kathy is going to call me tomorrow to see if she could possibly get my sleep study done any sooner. Oh I have also lost 7lbs. since the 7th of June. Woo Hoo. Rocquetta

Rocquetta, I'm glad you felt comfortable with Dr. White. My hubby is off the first two weeks of August and I have a surgery date og August 3rd. Can you hubby change his vacation? Mine had to post all his weeks in January. It's nice you have a mom who supports you! (my mom died 5-2-91) Luann

I wish he could but his job doesn't allow changes like that. They have to have all that information in by the end of January also. Which sucks but it will be ok. He can still take some type of family medical leave he just won't get paid for it. Sorry about your mom. I don't know what I would do with out mine. Rocquetta
