Reversal of procedure
Yes.Sandy Pierce just had a reversal/ She had WLS 4 years ago and had a terrible vitimin problem. I dont know to much but she owns the website .....Imnotfatanymore.com Go see it and you can learn more. Are you having problems? Give it 6 months and you will understand the pouch and exactly what and how much you can eat and I promise you will feel normal and happy, it just takes time and that passes anyway. Enjoy the weight loss, its so fun....Cindy
I wish I could talk to you. We all felt that way I promise. I was so depressed and cried to my husband all the time. You have to just take one day at a time and it helps. I swear you will feel normal again. It is very hard but you will be so happy. I have lost 100 lbs and I am so happy now. I eat whatever I want, its just very little. I dont say no to anything I want. I did find a great protien drink at smoothy king. A strawberrykiwi with extra protien. 45 grams and I will never have another can of sh__ again. I know its about 4 bucks but less than fast food I always spent. It is so good I go everyday. You have so much to learn and it all comes I promise. If you want to call me my no.is 513-271-1172
Loraine, I'm sorry to hear that you are so down. Cindy's message is right, it does take a little time to feel normal again, but you will get there. Did you receive the protein drinks I sent you? You need to take care of yourself and think positive and especially think of the weight loss. You will feel better soon! If you aren't feeling better soon, think about going to see a counselor, there should be some sort of mental health program where you live that provides services on a sliding scale or something that you could afford. It might really help you through a difficult time. Chris
Laura,
You need to stop doing this to yourself. I have felt terrible all week, but I am only 1 week out. I know it is going to get better. Being around others that have had the surgery helps.
You have your little group of us here that will be here for you. Just reach out. That is all you have to do. we will be there to catch you.
Are you holding your foods down OK? Are you still having some discomfort from the surgery incisions?
If you need to call Dr Mikami's office. I had to yesterday and Janice reassured me that what I am feeling is normal. Just talking to her made me feel better.
If you need me just give me a call ok....
Hugs
Julie
Laura,
I know Sandy Pierce as well.
Reversals are ONLY done in cases where there are severe complications/vitamin deficiencies that could be considered life threatening. The reversal surgery is 10x worse than the original surgery and is prone to more complications. That is why it is only done under the moset extreme cir****tances.
Why are you asking? Are you having problems?
I have had times in the last 5 mos where I questioned my sanity about having this done, but I would never want it reversed.
I just put on a pair of 24 jeans today. I havent been in a 24 in more years than I can count.
YOu are still very much in an adjustment period. Give it a little time, I am sure as your system gets used to things it will get better.
Don't give up we are all here for you
Sherri
Hi Loraine,
I understand your depression completely. I cried every day for a while wondering why I did this. I was tired, sore, and very depressed.
I was going into this with Bipolar disorder and my pyschiatrist warned me of the post surgical depression that I could encounter. So, my hubby was on the lookout and my psych worked with me on meds as well as some counseling and I did get through it.
I do know as a medical professional that post surgical depression is a very common thing even for people who have no underlying depression. Between the anesthesia, and the physical trauma/shock your body goes through, it does take it's toll.
I am concerned for you because you sound extremely depressed. I think it would benefit you greatly to get ahold of a psychiatrist or psychologist and discuss it with them. Some times short term anti depressants help a great deal. Because of absorption issues it took some tweaking of the meds to get it where it needed to be for me.
This is NOT the easy way, and I just want to choke people who say this, we put ourselves at great risks when we do this. It is a lot of hard work and in the beginning for some of us it can be devastating. We've lost our comfort buddy in that we can't eat like we did before, surgery makes you feel icky, nothing tastes good, you can't figure out what and when to eat, and those most close to us have a hard time understanding how to help and deal with it.
I will tell you, it does get better. You will get your energy back, the weight will start rolling off, and you will start learning how to cope with means other than food. Promise. Reversals are EXTREME last resort options. They are rarely done because they are very complicated with even more increased risks. God Bless Sandy, she really has had a severe deterioration in her health. I don't think anyone of us would opt for that unless it was a life saving proceedure.
Give it some time. Start doing things that you have always wanted to do but couldn't before. I have learned it is ok to do for me, and it is a must. Even if that means a few minutes at the library for peace and quiet! Get plenty of sunshine on your face! It's the most simple things in life that bring us the most pleasure sometimes!
Hang in there, and know that you have a big family here that loves and supports you. Be sure to tell Dr. Mikami EXACTLY how you are feeling, he may be able to refer you to someone who can help you over come this.
