take care,
karen
Hi Karen, this is a personal issue. Only you know if you need this done. My wife was against it also, however now she is very happy. I am sure he is scared but he does not know how you feel. It is great that you kids will be there for you. Yes they will be scared. It is normal for them and you to be scared. This is a life long commitment. If you are serious about this just put your self in your higher powers hands and you will find calmness. It isnt easy, but neither is what we have gone through for many years. Good Luck, Richard
Hi Karen.... This is probably the only thing you will ever do for you. No one will ever tell you to do it or not,it has to be your decision. Dr.Curry did mine last july and it was the best thing I have ever done. Its not easy but very worth it for me. I lost 100 lbs and only have 20 more lbs to go. It took me about 6 months to really learn what I could eat but it all comes with time. If you make a list of the pros and cons, that will help you so much. I can do every thing I couldnt ever do. The emotions you will have are unbelievable. Do what you have to do in your heart just for you, Love,Cindy
Hi Karen~
I also met with family and friends not wanting me to have the surgery....
My kids were the only ones who were gung-ho for Mom from the start... it took Hubby going to consultations with me... he came areound and is now my biggest supporter! My brother is also a big cheerleader for me... as for hubby's family... well... they were extremely vocal against the WLS!!! (and many of them are medical prfessionals... and are OBESE!!! )
when I decided... (notice i said "I DECIDED" this was all for ME and MY heath!!! something FOR ME for once!!!) to have the WLS with Dr Curry, Hubby's family was never told... and they still don't know... (I am just 3 and a half months out)
it was funny when I attended a function with hubby's family in attendance... one brother and his wife were encouraging of my 53# weight loss.... and the others were snotty... (jealous ) and made remarks about "oh you will just gain it all back..."
I have only told "them" that I am eating a lot less and exercising...
they will NEVER know that I had WLS.... that would just give them something to B***H at me about....
so, I agree that YOU have to do this for YOU.... and hold tightly to those who support you... it is your health... your life!!
YOUR decision
