Post op & tattoos?

I was just wondering if any of you that have lost significantly have tattoos and how they look? I have two, one on my ankle and one on my shoulder. I was just thinking about how they will be after I am on the losing side (hoping for approval). Thank You - Stacey

Hi Stacey! I have one tattoo above my left ankle, but I got it when I was 5 months post-op. So I can't be of any help there. However, from others that I know who did have tats prior to WLS in the areas in which yours are located, I'd say you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Hey Stacey, I have one on the outside of my ankle. It didn't change one iota. I would imagine from the location of yours they should be fine. I would be curious to see if anyone that had them in areas of skin that was greatly stretched out changed as the dropped weight. hhmmmmmm Anyone? Val

I have 4 tattoo's. Back upper shoulder area - fine knee to ankle - fine upper arm bicep area - fine chest above breast or where it is sagging - fine So far they all look fine! -124 or there abouts - haven't weighed in almost 2 months

yeah i was worrying about that as well i have 2 one on each breast i hope mine will be semi ok too

Thank you Vickie and Val! That makes me feel better! I was/am hoping that after wls I didn't end up having to have laser removal of my tatts. Not only do I like them, I have heard that the removal is extremely painful! Have a great weekend - Stacey

Stacey~ I got one on my right ankle about three years before my surgery. I have lost 120 pounds and it didn't change the tat at all. It just "looks" a little bigger now!!! LOL!!! Brandi
