OK Everyone I need your help. I'm sooooo tired of EVERYONE asking since I've lost weight "Do you feel better now"? I think soon I'm going to tell someone 'No I really liked being 100+ more than I am now'. Or 'you try carring around 2 50lb bags of dog food and see if you feel better not carring it'. Maybe I'm beeing to touchie but it's really starting to bug me. What do you all do when asked those questions??? Thanks for letting me vent, Robin W Dr. Rita Hadley-Anderson 11-17-2003 218/115 at GOAL 26w/4 petite

Although its one of those "here's your sign" type question they're asking. I think when there is a drastic change in someone others have questions or possible want to talk about it but can find correct words or questions to ask. Be patient, expect questions and stupid questions. It's going to happen. Personally I wouldn't want to hurt anyones feeling because they didn't ask the most intellegent question such as " do you feel better now" I understand your frustration, but try and understand other curiosity. Don't let it stress you out

I am trying really hard to be patient and believe these people don't mean the questions to be STUPID. I have had one person ask me repeatedly, "So you had surgery just to lose weight?" The other day I finally said, "no, I had surgery to save my life, weight loss is just a pleasant side effect." He looked perplexed and walked away. A lot of people don't understand the surgery and feel they should say SOMETHING, so they get what my mom called diarreah(sp) of the mouth and constipation of the brain. The other thing is, people hear the horror stories about WLSers who have severe complications, sometimes much later...so maybe we should just think of it as people showing concern and let it go, right? Your weight loss is amazing, by the way. (I won't ask how you feel-haha) Rebecca R. 254/214/154

I tell them "Yes". And then move on to a totally unrelated topic. Lisa

Hey Robin, Yeah - one thought just occurred to me though - maybe people are trying to learn about the surgery, and to understand it, even if they are a bit insensitive about it. Or maybe their mother or dad or aunt Flossie is thinking of having the surgery, and they want to know more... (Aunt Flossie - where did that come from?) Can't tell you how many times I have asked insensitive questions but was totally earnest on my part. Just didn't know. Or ... maybe they are just STOOOOOOPID! Have a good day! Kitty B.
