OT: Put in Bay

My friends and I have just booked a "girls weekend" to Put in Bay. We got reservations at the Commodore resort. Can anyone tell me if this is a nice place? Any info about the Bay would be helpful. I'm down 75 pounds and am hoping to have a new look for the beach!

I can't say if that particular hotel is nice, but I am sure it is, by the name alone! All the islands in Lake Erie are cool, Ohio has many hidden treasure's in it. I've been to I think most of our little isle's. I just live about an hour away. When ya coming? and have a blast! sometimes it smells a bit fishy though, but afterall you ARE in the middle of a lake!

I guess the part of the hotel was torn down last year and they re-built it. From what I gather, our hotel is smack in the middle of the party life (which is OK with us). We're going July 28 through 31. I never thought about the fish smell....lol I don't have any kids but all my friends do (one has two 3 year olds)....it'll just be a blast with just the girls. I'm single so I don't get to go on a family vacation....this is my big "whoop de do" for the summer. Thanks all so much for the info!

Janel, this will be a fun time for you .depending where the hotel is there really isnt much beach it is more a party town it gets pretty wild on the weekends alot of college kids and singles. in town it is a whole row of bars with decks and it gets pretty wild just relax and have fun be sure to rent a bike and really see the island . local winerys on the island has great samples and nice flavors of wine.have a glass for me and cheers!!!!

You will be going right past my house to get to put in bay the islands are usually beautiful but like someone else said not much beach mostly party island anyone mentions going over to put in bay it's usually to party (the do have one of the worlds longest bars so what do ya expect) the caverns are beautiful so try to take a tour threw them (it seems to me some the areas are tight areas so remember that for anyone in your group that is a bigger person) you can rent golf carts or bicycles to get around and the wait to get in perrys monument might be a bit (depending on time of year) but well worth the wait beautiful to see lake erie from way up there (there are some steps and then and elevator but they may have another way to the elevator then step that general public don't know in case anyone has hard time climbing stairs) and yes it does smell like fish alot some times it's almost nauseating lol home you enjoy the area have a great time
