I have a question and I apologize ahead of time if anyone is offended. Just recently my belly button is all red and smells worst than ever . Is this anything that anyone else has experienced. What can I do to make this better. I have been using vitamin E oil to ease the redness. Any ideas.....help...... I am 10 1/2 months post op down 96 lbs. Lise

i am going to assume prob something similiar to what i asked my pcp about today (sounds similiar) he told me to use gold bond or some kind of antifungal powder (even the kind for feet if ya have to)cause it's a warm moist place and thats where fungus like to grow so make it less comfortable for it to grow hope this helps

I have no answer for this, but I HAVE to say...i LOVE that questions like this can be presented and viable answers given!!! I am having my surgery on THURSDAY!!!...and while I currently do not have this issue, I may very well in the future. Again I MUST MUST say what a wonderful group of people are on this message board. I can't believe I am actually going to get to have the surgery AND have all these precious people to help me through everything!! Liz Hillsboro

I agree - it is probably fungal. My doctor recommended Lamisil spray and I would think powder would work too. She said to avoid the creams because it makes an already moist environment even more moist. Also, once you have it cleared up, as strange as it may seem, swab some antiperspirant deodorant stick there when you do your underarms. I also use it in the skin folds "elsewhere" with my PCP's approval and my rashes and infections have been seriously minimized over the past year. Hope this helps. Maryalice

Lise, It's also good to tell your pcp or surgeon because they can document it in the records and it's good documentation for the insurance company as to why you need insurance coverage for a tummy tuck. Luann

Call you PCP and get it written into your file. This will be a GREAT thing if you ever want that tummy tuck. When I was at the docs last month I told him I was doing corn starch baby powder, anti persprirant/deodorant, and nothing was helping. He gave me a RX for LOTRISOME cream. I now use that twice a day under my panni and under the long boobs. And the hotter it gets the worst the heat and moisture will be in all those skin folds. Robin W
