Husbands work excludes coverage for wls

I just got a call today from the Jewish Hospital weight management center. I was told that my husbands employer (Siemens) has excluded WLS from their insurance benefits. This company is a horrible company for my husband to work for anyway and now we find out that we cant even use our insurance the way we or our dr sees fit. I am truly devestated and have been in tears all morning. I was told at my wls info session that an employer was actually persuaded to chnage their policy when an employee came to them with documentation and why it would benefit the company to cover the surgery and how it could save costs in the long run. I have also just filled an application to work for Jewish Hospital which has excellent health benefits that has no problem covering wls. If anyone has any experience with this...I would love to hear. I feel like this stupid Nazi company has me by the "balls" and they just keep squeezing. I just cant believe that they have the right to determine what is medically necessary for me. I am sorry...I am going on so much...I just cant stop crying. Thanks for listening

Renee, Go to "Your Journey" on the website and look under insurance troubles. It should give you some help. I'm on my level three appeal with my husband's insurance. Even though they say your husband's insurance excludes wls you could get it approved under medical necessity. Good luck! Luann

I agree with Luann. If nothing else, contact one or both of the WLS attorneys known on this site for help. I did when I first started and was told that if medically necessary, exclusions can be overturned as well as deemed excessive. Beth
