HI VICKI I LOOKED ON YOUR PAGE AND SEEN THAT YOU WERE APPROVED THROUGH MEDICAID. I USED TO LIVE IN TOLEDO AND WAS APPROVED THROUGH PARAMOUNT ADVANTAGE BUT I CANT SEEM TO GET APPROVED HERE IN COLUMBUS (CARESOURCE) I'M THINKING ABOUT SWITCHING BACK TO MEDICAID. Hi Vickie Iit is the other Vickie I was looking for I was also approved through Paramountin Toledo but when I moved here to Columbus I lost coverage I thought since it was so easy to get approved there it would be the same here also guess not. Anyway thank you for trying to help me.

HI VICKIE THANK YOU SO MUCH. THE REASON I DIDN'T HAVE SURGERY IS WE MOVED TO COLMBUS RIGHT AFTER MY APPROVAL THEY DON'T HAVE PARAMOUNT HERE SO I THOUGHT MY APPROVAL EXPIRED. I WISH I COULD HAVE STILL USED IT BECAUSE NOW I'M HAVING A HORRIBLE TIME GETTING APPROVED HERE.

I AM A GETTING A BIT IMPATIENT WAITING ON MEDICAID TO LET ME KNOW IF I AM APPROVED OR NOT FOR THE SURGERY AND IT'S REALLY GETTING ON MY NERVES HOPING TO HEAR SOMETHING EVERYDAY OVER THE PHONE OR THRU THE MAIL. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOUR MONTHS AND WHEN I CALL THE CONSUMER HOTLINE THEY ALWAYS SAY THE SAME THING I HAVE TO CALL THE DOCTORS OFFICE AND HAVE THEM CALL WITH THE PROVIDER NUMBER. AND WHEN I CALL THE DR'S OFFICE THEY ALWAYS SAY IT TAKES UP TO 16-20 WEEKS TO GET AN ANSWER WELL IT HAS BEEN PAST 20 WEEKS!! SO I HOPE THAT IF YOU SWITCH BACK TO MEDICAID I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT AS LONG AS I AM WAITING!!

In 2004 Medicaid was telling people it took 45 days to look at the paperwork, when in actuality it was 90 days. big bummer I KNOW! Then they sat on my approval for 3 months! The nerve! Then I found a surgeon had to have the Dr's name changed on my approval and they said it would take an additional 4 months! It's there way of trying to wear us down. My approval time was almost over before I got my surgery, I had to play hard ball with them. (see profile) But be patient! If you bug them too much before approval and I only heard this, could be a rumor (dunno for sure) that they put your paperwork back to the bottom of the heap of requests. But BE PATIENT! In 2005 I heard they are telling people 4 months to get to the paperwork BIGGER BUMMER... But BE PATIENT! Ohio has a bill pending on Weight Loss Surgery, it's kinda just sitting there though right now.. has been for a while, But the bottom line is.... write your congressman.. write your senator.. write your state rep. Let them hear your concern about your health! IF PROVEN MEDICALLY NECCESSARY they will approve you. And each case is determined separately, no set in stone guidelines, so be patient and pray.. keep the faith... if it is meant to be, it'll happen. Not raining on any parades, I truly hope they approve everyone that is waiting on their replies. On a good note, Ohio Medicaid is one of the easiest in the nation to get approval through. Hey there I have medicaide as well and originally was told would talk about 6 months for approval i have since heard that it's actually taking almost 8 months for appovals so keep the faith and hang in there i am soooooo glad that i'm getting medicare june 1 and won't have to wait for the medicaide approval but i feel for all you believe me i've don't some major waiting jumping threw all the hoops you can to patience is a virtue hold true to it good luck
