After effects of surger?

Is there diarrhea as an after effect from gastric bypass surgery?

Not for me. I wish lol. I havent had it in 9 months since my surgery.

I personally haven't had any problems with it, in fact I only go once or twice a week. I'm 5 1/2 months out. Hope this helps with your question.

I had it in the beginning, I figured it was because of being on liquids for the first 2 weeks. But now that I am on solid foods I only go every couple of days.

I have diarrhea or some sort of BM several times per day. Wi**** wasn't quite so frequent and sometimes is very urgent. hope that helps. chris

my suggestion is to first make sure you do not have a medical problem by seeing your doc.. if not then perhaps you need to reevaluate what you are eating. I don't eat sugar because I do not like the way it makes me feel for one thing..The other thing is that I do not want to go back into my old eating habits..so i am glad I feel kinda yuckie after! Diane, if you have diarrhea for more than one day, and it is pretty bad (watery stools), you need to call your surgeon. People can get something called a C-Diff bacterial infection which causes diarrhea. It takes a specific antibiotic to get rid of it.
