ULTRA SOUND :-I
Hey everyone,
On Friday I had an ultra sound on my legs to detect any blood clots...I beleive it's called veinistat?...or something to that effect.
I have had ultra sounds when I was pregnant with both of my daughters, and I had an echocardiogram...all of which were not unpleasant.
HELLO!!! This is totally different!!! If you are going to have one of these tests, you ned to be aware that it is going to be uncomfortable. In order to get a good picture of your vein, they have to push down hard enough to flatten it.
If you have chubby legs, (who doesn't), this means pushing down extremely hard...very hard, REALLY hard. OWEEY OWEEEY OWEEY!!!!:-0
I have bruises all along the insides of my legs.
Of course if the test is necessary, you must have it...but be prepared, "you might experience some discomfort" as "they" say!

I've had this Doppler LE (doppler of lower extremities) at least 6 times since surgery...5 of those times my leg was extremly tender from cellulitis so take the pain you felt and times it by 10, I mean just the pressure from my leg laying on the exam table was bad. But bruises...honey, I think that tech must have been a little overly aggressive on you unless you are on coumadin...or otherwise bruise easily...which I have to say I am on coumadin and had a doppler in December and did not bruise. I told the tech the last time my leg was infected that I knew she had to push but please know my leg is very sore so be as gentle as possible.
Sarah,
I am not on coumadin, but I have been on a heavy aspirin regiment for 2 years as a result of rheumatic fever...that must be why I bruised...although in order to get sympathy I have been claiming that it is from the extreme force used by the tech..HA!
But is was very painful all the same, I'm glad that your experiences were not like mine. I hope it was just an isolated incidence.
Hi all,
I also had the ultrasound of lower extremities, my knees are always swollen and tender following some surgery and other knee issues - guess that's why he wanted the test.
I thought the test was pretty "uncomfortable" but not severely painful. I don't think they shouldda bruised you - that's just going too far.
Just like getting bruised from a mammogram - it should not happen. But as we all know, it does happen.
