Well I'm back.. if even for a few minutes here and there today. work work work y a n n o? I asked for my desk to be moved outside yesterday, haha because I find it just so hard to be inside when it's so nice outside. But then all my paperwork would blow away, phone and computer cords ain't long enough, etc.. lol Interesting weekend, even despite the funeral. Too much to name, but the big one was, MY brother did NOT recognize me, he asked his wife, who's that lady with Nick (my son) , that was very ! 1. If your post-op, is there any food you feel your really missing? Pre-ops, take a guess on this, what do you think you will miss? 2. What made your decision to have WLS? 3. What was the very first diet attempt you made? 4. If you had a million dollars (or more) what would you do with it? *~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~* 1. YES, salad, salad, salad.. I have a few bites here and there, but usually don't waste my pouch space or time with it now. Since there is basically no nutrional value here, why would I? But hey, couldn't I have a really nice one and count if as fluid intake? lol 2. Telling my children no all the time, why? cause Mommy can't do that, Mommy can't walk that far, Mommy won't fit. I was in a wheelchair anytime I left the house, although my boys love me, I know it sure wasn't fun pushing Mommy around. Them having to take care of me... Me feeling rotten all the time... there wasn't a moment something wasn't bothering me. Not being able to take care of my personal hygiene. The list goes on and on. Now.. wheelchair IS RETIRED! Now Mommy want's to go, NOW Mommy feels better, NOW Mommy fits! (and can reach everywhere she needs to with ease) heck I can touch my toes again.. almost touch them to my nose.. 3. Weigh****chers, I gained.. I was 12 yrs old and the diet was MORE food than I was normally taking in. Hey I tried though! At my house we didn't get a bunch of junk, I ate normal, my dad was raising 5 of us alone, he didn't have $ for treats and we didn't get any allowances to be able to go buy the junk either. 4. Well since I've been poor for so long.... first thing I would do is give to my church. Then make a large donation to the Food Bank.. Then probably build me a house, where I want it, get a car of my choice, then invest for my future..and take long trips everywhere! I don't know if that would be enough to do it all, since I really think I'd end up giving most of it away... Oh and I'd have to save some for plastics... What's money anyways, besides financial ease? Happiness is not in the wallet, but in the heart. Ok, gotta go do another Study on Hunger in America.. (if only they'd just let me tell them the real problem.. :X) I say TAX the junk food and then lower the prices of the GOOD food, so people with less money are still able to eat good food. :X (and it isn't just poor people that go to these pantries, soup kitchens and such, it's really a shame) (OK off my soapbox now) Hugs and prayers, Vickie

Well I am for sure Pre...havent had surgery and havent met with Dr. Curry Yet..that happens on May 9..so 1. If your post-op, is there any food you feel your really missing? Pre-ops, take a guess on this, what do you think you will miss? ..I think the food I will miss the most is Ice Cream...I have a person love affair with several flavors..and its going to almost kill me not to have them..yet again if I keep eating them they are going to kill me also....there always seems to be a catch... 2. What made your decision to have WLS? .. I want and need to have this surgery because I need to be here to raise my small children, I need to see them go through school, get married and give me grandchildren. 3. What was the very first diet attempt you made?..Wow...how many pages can I get to write on...I think the first one was either Diet Workshop or Weigh****chers...and since Im still here they didnt work...I have also been on nutrasystem, Optifast, grapefruit diet, scarsdale, slimfast...so you can see nothing has worked...Dr. Curry here I come..hehhe 4. If you had a million dollars (or more) what would you do with it?.. I would get a nice house, pay off all our bills, set up a college fund for my children, give some to my mother and my husbands parents, and then invest to make more money....

1. If your post-op, is there any food you feel your really missing? Pre-ops, take a guess on this, what do you think you will miss? I suspect I am going to miss Pizza and Pepsi 2. What made your decision to have WLS? I have been heavy for a long time and the appearance aspect really never bothered me. But when my size started giving me nonstop physical pain and I began to have one health problem after another I knew it was time to do something. I tried every diet imaginable, lost a few pounds and then gained 10 more back. I want to save my life so I can be around to see my little grandson Scooter Pie grow up and be a grandpa himself. 3. What was the very first diet attempt you made? I remember being very young and my mom putting me on an 800 calorie a day diet, So I could be more presentable to the public. An aunt was coming in from out of town, and a fat little girl was not what she wanted to present to her family. I felt ashamed and did miserable on the diet. 4. If you had a million dollars (or more) what would you do with it? I would take my family on our very first vacation ever. We have Never been able to afford to go anywhere, even when I was married money was always a problem. Now I am a single mom its impossible. So it would be a wonderful vacation. A nice modest home, a nice reliable vehicle and I would open a center to help displaced homemakers and divorced men/ women find a new purpose in their life. Help guide them to resources within the comunity to help them find their way. *~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*

1. If your post-op, is there any food you feel your really missing? Pre-ops, take a guess on this, what do you think you will miss? I can eat anything that I want, just not as much of it. Some things do not taste the same and I am definately eating more vegtables now than I ever did before. 2. What made your decision to have WLS? I had no other choice, my life was ending fast. 3. What was the very first diet attempt you made? I think the first serious attempt was Gloria Marshalls. 4. If you had a million dollars (or more) what would you do with it? retire

Welcome back Vickie! You were missed and much in our prayers. 1. If your post-op, is there any food you feel your really missing? Yesterday was my three week anniversary, I don't feel like I am really deprived. This may sound stupid, but I don't like coffee anymore. I was a coffeeholic-Starbucks will start loosing $$ any day now-anyway for some stupid reason I feel very sad that I don't like coffee anymore. 2. What made your decision to have WLS? When I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and was told it would kill me. DH went into a panic-I had already wanted WLS, but the diagnosis really jolted him into being supportive so I went thru with it. 3. What was the very first diet attempt you made? Don't tell my kids...I took illegal drugs in high school to loose weight. "Speed" My first diet "program" was slimfast. 4. If you had a million dollars (or more) what would you do with it? I would fix up houses in NICE neighborhoods in GOOD school districts and give them to struggling single parents or deserving families. I hate how habitat always puts these poor people in places were no one else wants to live. I would buy a nice piece of land with an old farmhouse on it for us, pay off bills, set up college funds for the kids...relax and enjoy life. Have a great day!

1. If your post-op, is there any food you feel your really missing? Pre-ops, take a guess on this, what do you think you will miss? I don't like coffee anymore either, I keep trying it, several times a week, but nope, don't like it...ewwww I am 47 years old and have drank coffee for at least 35 of those years. I have tried all kinds..nothing doing.. 2. What made your decision to have WLS? Watching both of my parents and late husband die from diabetes. Knowing that I was a prime candidate, and could not lose the weight on my own. I want to live, a long, healthy life! 3. What was the very first diet attempt you made? I ordered these diet grapefruit fiber pills that swell in your stomach and make you too full to eat...I got them out of the back of my mothers "True Story" magazine..I was 14 years old. 4. If you had a million dollars (or more) what would you do with it? First I would pay off our home, college funds for my grandchildren, buy my husband a plane, plastic sugery fund, help my family, and make a nice big donation to Dr. Curry's Bariactric Center for patients that do not have insurance and can not afford self pay. I so very much appreciate my chance at health and happiness that this surgery has given me. Mary

Hey welcome back!! 1. Cookies...pizza...french fries... 2. One day my uncle from out of town met me n my family for dinner at the hotel he was staying at for a convention, so I got all dressed and thought I looked really cute (my FAVORITE uncle) well we went and had a nice time and left and he went home the next day that was the only time we saw him while he was in, well then like a week later he called me and was like well we need to have a talk and I was like oh yah about what well he said that he wanted to talk to me about my weight, this is my favorite uncle so that just crushed me...he said he didn't want to hurt my feelings or make me feel bad but that my father had died a month before I was born and he was like 280 pounds that that was VERY huge *** have ya seen Maury when he has people on so big they have to have a wall removed from their house? yah thats a lil bigger than 280 k?) and that he was only 33 when he died and didn't want that to happen to me and that he was worried about me and that my boys (4 & 10 mo) wouldn't have a mommy and would I want them to have a step parent and get treated horribly like I did? He told me that I should be in crisis mode about my weight and that I needed to do something about it NOW!! I know he meant well but i was fat but I was happy and thought I looked cute...I had no problem with being big..but looking back even though I was so totally crushed I am glad he did it because that is what brought me to do this..he really was very nice about it though but then when I told him I was planning to have the gastric bypass surgery he went nuts him and my aunt both saying no don't do that just go on a diet or do weigh****chers that this surgery would kill me there was just a person on the news that had it done and died, so I was like k well how old were they? did they smoke? were they on oxygen? how much did they weight? what were their health problems? he was like uh um um...I was like yah mhmm I bet I'm way safer than they were too...he didn't have nothin to say, not that I couldn't die too but it seems the more problems u have...so anyhow that is what brought me to this decision so looking back I am glad he crushed me like that otherwise I'd be still fat and happy...now when I get this done I'll be small and ECSTATIC!!! And look so good that he'll be glad I had this done. 3. I would quit eating for days and it actually did help my face thinned out alot...but ya can't be doing that, I did tops, weigh****chers, low cal, low fat, low carbs, diet this and diet that...tried diet pills but the ones I got were GROSS!! 4. Oh geez I could go on and on...build a house, take care of my friends n family by doin somethin really nice for them like payin off their bills or somethin, buy cars, start bank accts for boys, buy stock through harris direct, donate to HUD, go on vacation to disney, put money into cds...theres so much.... ~Tema

1. The food I'll miss is just a good ole' candy bar. 2. I finally decided on WLS because, My doctor told me that if I didn't do something, I would probably have a heart attack by the time I'm 40. And that's in just 5 years. and that scared me. 3. My first diet attempt was like rebecca's, except I did speed and slim fast together. But later on in life was that wonderful Xenical. Yeah, I pooped myself but I didn't lose any weight. Weird or what? 4. If I had a million dollars. Besides paying off bills and such. I would pay off all of my parents bills also and help out people that are near and dear to me.
