United HealthCare Approval Time....

Hi Everyone: New to the Ohio boards. I usually hang around the Main Board. I asked this question the other day there, just wanted to get more input!! My MD's office sent in the letter to UHC on Monday, April 11th. Just wanted to know about how long does it take for approval. My BMI is at 57. Nurse told me to contact them in 2 weeks to check up on my case. Any advise???? Thanks, Carmella

Hello Carmella, I have United Healthcare Choice Plus and it only took 3 days for approval for me. I contacted them and they told me they didn't have my info, yet I got my approval letter in the mail the following day. Good luck and I hope you get a quick approval too! Denise

I had my approval within a matter of days of the surgeon's office sending it in. Good luck!

I was told to call back in two weeks also, but seeing how we wait and wait some more, I called a week later to UHC and they told me over the phone that I was approved. It scared me a little when UHC told me my date was set for JULY. But when I called the Doctors office, I was told they have to give a dummy date that it would be sooner. Good Luck. if you have UHC EPO it took 3weeks for approval...for both myself & a friend @ work having the same exact surgery & doctor..

you can click on my profile to read more about my experience with UHC. I wish I had been more vigilant and not listened to the assistant at my surgeons office. My process took two months, way longer than it should have.

Hi Jen!! I just wanted to let you know that I live in Wooster and my MD is Dr. Sonpal. I'm going to have my surgery at St. Vinc. too!!!! Just wanted to know if I could drop you a line once in awhile!!!! I just read your profile and you are doing a great job!!! Well I waited all day today for the mailman and he finally showes up today at 3:30 with just a cable bill!!! Arghhh. Hopefully tomorrow. Take Care and thanks for the info on our insurance!!! Sure you can drop me a line! I would love to hear how you are doing. My best girl friend had surgery at StV's in Dec and has lost 60+lbs so far. She had Dr Schrieber and I had Dr Patterson. She lives in the Lodi area and knows two other women at her church who've had the surgery... there are a lot of us in southern medina county.
