scared
Bobbie, I really think that I am the biggest wimp that ever lived and I was so scared that my family had expected me not to go to the hospital on the day I was scheduled for the surgery. I have to think that it was in Gods plan for me to continue with it and I know that he was with me each and every step of the way. Dr. Curry and his staff was so good at calming me and the hospital staff was too. If you ever get a chance to attend our support group at Adena in the Horizon room I think that you would find that most of us were scared and that it is a natural thing. Good luck to you and may God Bless you and give you peace with whatever decision you make. Debra

You all are really inspiring and wonderful! Thanks to each of you *****plied, made me feel like people really care. I had a talk today with my mom, and we both agreed that the surgery would probably be the best bet for me. I just have too much weight to lose. Oh, and sorry I havent been putting anything on my profile. Guess I just never thought about it. But I will start. I have a few questions...I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Curry. Is his office hard to find? I live in chillicothe. I have ohio medicaid, should I get the approval from them before I even schedule a consultation or how does that work? Thanks to all of you. you've been a big help!
Bobbie, I just got my packet from Dr. Curry's office and they do take medicaid and medicare, which is wonderful. Their office is near the University of Cincinnati, you would take 71-South to Taft Road exit, up till it ends at Clifton Ave, get in the center lane and turn right because Dreaconess Hopsital is at the first light (left) on the corner, directally across from the main enterance to the college, its about a 2-2.5 hr drive from Columbus. I have a friend that lives in your area so thats why I can give you directions. So, it seems we are at the same stage of this mighty journey. Call the office, the people I have spoken to have been really nice and helpfull. Hey you can at least get the packet and read all about them, then make your decision. Hope this helps.....Pam...and feel free to e-mail me directally, we can keep eachother company through all this......
As far as the laparoscopic approach, one of the main practices that we maintain is that if you BMI is greater than 60 Dr. Gersin and myself will perform the operation together. Our practice has two of only 3 of the areas full fellowship trained advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgeons. If there is any information that I can share with you again please do not hesitate to contact me if only for the discussion. I would be delighted to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Selwyn

Pam, I will definitely call and get the packet! Thank you, ya all are too kind.
Dr. Selwyn, does your office have a 'packet' of information, or how could I reach you? YOur office is in Cincinnati, correct? You've been a big help to me, and that already tells me something about you. I would definitely like to schedule something with you.
Thanks to you both.
