Down in the dumps
Hi everyone,
Feeling a little down in the dumps. I am about 9 wks out and have lost about 35-40 lbs. It seems to go up and down this week. I have done everything humanly possible to get in water and protein and exercise. This 6 week plateau is killing me. I feel very discouraged. I am due to go back to see the surgeon in 2 wks. He will be as disappointed as I am. He seemed disappointed on the last visit.
Calling the nutrionists have been no help. They tell me to keep doing what I am doing. I admit it is hard to get 66 gms. of protein in. I am unable to drink protein products, so I get most of my protein from food. But I do come within a couple of points of that 66 gms. each day. Please tell me that I am not going to be one of the few that doesn't lose. I don't think that I could stand that.
I have increased water and exercise. Still no change. I am hoping that I am stressing for no reason. My Type A personality has a lot to do with my impatience. Thanks for listening.

You are no different then any of us. It WILL come off and you will have these stand stills often. I have been at 97 lbs down for 2 months. It is hard but be patient. It is also better to lose slowly. Your skin wont be as bad. Do you have a lot to lose? Please dont worry,it will all happen .I have 26 or so to go and its not budging and I have tried everything. I know you cant eat as much as you used to and our bodies are very confused. Enjoy, you will be fine
Hi Kasey~
I had my lap RNY on Feb 4, so we are about the same ... I have lost 41 pounds so far, and yep, things have been slowing down lately.
I too have a hard time with protien drinks, I have been taking the liquid protien from GNC, it is a small amount to drink and isn't too nasty. I have to do about 67 - 70 gms of protien every day, and it is hard sometimes.
I am trying not to be discouraged. so hang in there with me!!!
I have also started walking and exercising more. I do get my 70+ oz of water in every day...
boy, for those silly people who say "WLS is the EASY way out" , have NO idea... it IS a lot of work, isn't it?

Oh Kasey I totally know how you are feeling. I am 10 weeks post op and today was a horrible day for me too. I am hungry and that scares me, and my weight is coming off very slowly. At one point I even GAINED 5 lbs. It came off shortly thereafter but still how could I possibley gain weight eating 2 oz. of food a few times a day!? I'm impatient also so I know how it is. We just have to keep focused on the goal (i've decided to make very small attainable goals so it is easier) but I guess the bottom line is we'll have these days so hang in there, know that you are loved and that you are not alone and keep your chin up!!! Take care.
