Today is my 2-year Anniversary
Starting weight 502+
Pre-op 462lbs.
Currently 328 lbs.
So I've lost about 174lbs overall, 134 since surgery 2 years ago. And honestly all that came off in the first year. I have yo-yo'd between 340 and 320 ever since. My surgeon wants me to lose another 65lbs before I can have Henrietta fixed and begin plastic surgery.
But if you've kept up with my story you would know weight is the least of my problems lately. This time last year I would have never thought I would now be living in Miami, I also would have never imagined that I would have spend more time in the doctors office or having test done that at my new job.
I feel normal, which is a good thing to feel, however, I don't like 330lbs to be my normal...it's not normal. I'm working on setting some new goals for myself since I have reached almost all the ones I had set pre-op. I don't know what I'm missing out on, since I have never been anything near a normal weight before.

Happy second anniversary Sarah! I think you've done excellent! I think if you didn't have lymphodema(sp) that you would have hit goal no problem by now, but with a disease like that, things are not always in your control. (I just have edema and know this all to well, I always carry extra weight and will until my back is repaired and I have reconstructive surgery in the distant future. IF that even corrects it? )
Besides look at Lissa Reed, she still was loosing after 2 years out. I know you CAN and you WILL succeed!
hugs and prayers,
Vickie
Sarah...
First Happy Two Years! OMG!! That is an awesome feat in itself.
The important thing to remember is that you haven't given up... you are fighting the good fight and we are all proud of you. There isn't anyone here who would think that you haven't been working hard. You have had a lot of obstacles thrown at you and you have continued to fight and over come them one at a time.
You just hang in there my friend. We'll help you all we can. Never give up and keep reaching for your goals sweetie!
You are a strong woman and I am proud of you!
BIG HUG
Val
Sarah, first of all congratulations!! I have followed your ups and downs and you have done a wonderful job of staying on track.
On a side note, since we had the same doctor, you have me wondering about a few things. I too stopped losing after the first year. I lost 218 pounds but lost it in the first year, well less than a year really and have mostly yo-yo'd since then. I had asked Cook when he did my surgery if he would do me distal so that I would be sure to lose most of my weight and he said no because of the side effects not being worth it. However, he did say that if I did not lose all the weight that I wanted, I could come back to him and he would do a revision to make me more distal.
I am really wondering if I should make an appointment with him and see what he thinks. It is weird that we both stopped losing before the first year. It wouldn't be so fustrating if I were cheating like crazy, but I am trying really hard to stick to the program and just can't seem to get the scales to move more.

Ummm...he supposedly did a distal on me 120cm...I remember my new surgeon finding the limb lengths on my surgery report and writing them in her notes. But I don't remember the number now. For some reason 90 something keeps popping in my mind. She did mention that she could lenghten my limbs when she does the hernia repair to cause more malabsorption, but at the moment I am not sure what I want to do, since she won't do the hernia repair until I lose 60 more pounds what the heck would I need the revision then...I need something now. That is if anything will help since the lipodema is probably what is making it difficult to lose weight...so more malabsorption wouldn't help either.
