I don't have a response for you, but wondered what you thought of the disability application process.

Have you went threw ssi and been declared disabled? If you are totally disabled and on ssi you should be able to have medicaid probabaly have to pay a spend down each month for it like i do ( still can't believe i have to pay $350 a month for medicaid) but atleast you have coverage And to answer the other persons question about the process for getting disability it actually wasn't to bad for me i got approved first time around and they actually backdated my disability a year and a half i was told usually ssi denies disibilty claims the first time so i was very surprised and very happy

Hi all and thanks for responding. Ohio Disability Assistance is a program that covers medical charges for patients who do not qualify for Medicaid. I have not even attempted to get SSI, not even sure if I would qualify for it. If I may ask and sorry if I'm getting to personal, what/how did you apply for SSI. What type of problems do you have? Thanks again, T

All i did to apply for ssi was call my local Social security office and tell them i cannot work per my doctor and that i would like to apply for benefits at the time i applyed my biggest problem was my breathing i cannot walk or stand for more then 5 mins and i have chronic pain in my knees and back, have high BP, Gerd, High cholesterol,depression/ anxiety, and issitable bowel syndrom (almost all problems are worse now or have new ones but that what i had at the time i applied) they sent me to a doctor and luckily the doctor they sent me to was friendly to the (larger) population the biggest thing with applying for ssi is just like waiting for the appoval for sugery is waiting you have to wait and wait but at the same time make sure your a little squeaky you will have to fill out tons of papers and it helps if you have someone close to you that will /can fill out a big ole questionair (like 7 pages) about you Once i finially got appoved they actually went and backdated my disability a year and a half so was deffinialty worth waiting My struggle is not over but atleast i have made some major steps towards it Good luck and i hope some of this has helped
