I'm 5 months out and was wondering what the typical day of eating is like for most of you at that time in your journey. Some things I read says 2 oz. of protein with 1/4 cup vegs. and others 3oz. Any suggestions would be appreciated as well as with snack options. Thanks so much. Connie

To be truthful. I am 8 months out and I could not eat that much at one sitting. You sort of take in what you can. I think the 100 calorie snacks are a great idea. Espesially for us because we can do a half at one time. I like milk with a grahm cracker, or sugar free health choice ice cream cone. Hope this helps, Cindy -96

Hi Connie I always chose high protein snacks no matter what! as far as dinner I always ate protein first, veggies seconds and rarely to never ate high calorie snacks my first year as I wanted the biggest bang for my buck, in other words I wanted to lose the most weight as quickly as possible. I kept things like Deli Turkey, chicken, roast beef, or ham in the frig..if I wanted a snack I would eat a slice with a piece of cheese or something like string cheese, etc. I wasn't real big on protein bars because I was so afraid they would make me crave..but I would on occasion have them especially if I was traveling. I Hope these ideas help..email me if you like..maybe we can come up with other ideas for you.. Brenda

I had my surgery a couple weeks after you, but thought I would post. I generally get in 4 - 5 meals (snacks, whatever you want to call them) in a day. My typical day is: Breakfast- CIB/NSA w/ff milk, I use 10 oz's of milk, makes it not so sweet that way. In between, water, water, water usually about 16 oz's between meals. I still fight getting in my fluids every day. Snack/Lunch- (whatever ya wanna call it) whatever meat I had for dinner last night I have for s/l the next day. Generally it is JUST the meat part from the meal. 3-3.5oz's. water, water, water... Later Snack/Lunch - (whatever ya wanna call it) deli sliced turkey, 3 - 6 slices, 10-20 protein grams there, small peices, easy going down. water, cup of decaf coffee, sf hot cocoa Dinner- 3-3.5oz's of protein first, 1/4 c of veggies (sometimes I eat more, love my veggies) water, water, water... I don't have much of a stomach for fruit, I mean I like it and all, but it does not sit well in my pouch at all. If on schedule, I will then have another CIB/NSA before bed. And if on schedule and I get it all in that's 82 g's of protein. I try to get ALL my protein from food, as protein supplements totally make me Trying a new one later on today.... we'll see. I think I am eating too much, but when I break it down I guess I really am not eating much at all.

Vicki it sounds to me like you are making great choices!! I am lactose intolerant so milk just doesn't do it for me at all..blah but I have heard from a couple of surgeons and an RD..that it seems those that do alot of milk have a slower weight loss so maybe you can try a fruity type protein drink and cut down on the milk just a little..also one lady I work with uses hoods low carb milk and loves it. I am sure you are not eating to much I think we all think that when we can take in a little more than we did at first. I remember that well. I don't do alot of fruits either, same as you they just didn't sit well with me..becareful with apples..oiy..my first one almost killed me..and oranges seem to have to much sugar, I can take a couple of bites but they still make me feel as though I am going to dump. I did have a lady who told me she bought canned fruit..I would watch that because of the sugar, when we got out the can and read the label there were 28 grams of sugar in a serving..wayyyyy to many. Keep up the good work!! Brenda

I try really hard to make good food choices. Sometimes it's hard when one is cooking for only two and one of them had surgery and the other is a picky eater, gotta satify the kid too. I can't afford to make two different meals. Like when I make him taco's, I have them tacoless but with tomato, lettuce, onion, sauce. Same with enchilada's, my son loves mexican food. He also likes pizza a lot, but when I serve him that, I just pick off the toppings and leave the dough sitting. I could NOT do milk of any sort the first 3 months, it's just been in the last 6 weeks that I can do it again. Well crap, I'll cut back on one of my milk servings, this constipation is driving me bonkers anyways and I want the weight to come off! I did try that new protein supplement, it was GOOD! Actually it is ONLY 3 oz's and 25 g's of protein too! I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, didn't think anything so concentrated would be good. It wasn't thick or anything and it is fruity too! I'm gonna do more research on it and see what the experts say before I post how good it is. Don't do fruit in a can unless it says, in it's own juice, has low sugar amt in it, and besides fresh is better! if'n it would sit well in my pouch. Thank you I will keep trying to keep up the good work! Now you too Brenda!

Dont know if you have Donatos Pizza around where you live but I found out they have crustless pizza..and it is soooo good. I get it with meat so there are tons of protein and no carbs. I absolutely love Mexican food it's one of my favorites..if I am making tacos I fix mine as a taco salad.I make more meat than we can eat then freeze some up in smaller portion sizes. that way if the fam is eating something I don't like I can nuke the meat and have myself a taco salad while they eat something else. I do the same with chicken..Try sticking chicken (or anyother meat like pork steaks/chops)in the crockpot for the day with your favorite seasoning, whether it be mexican or italian..I sprinkle italian dressing on mine then leave it for the day..when I get home man is the house smelling good and dinner is ready to be served..again I freeze the leftovers in small containers or baggies so they are ready for me whenever I want..also I like to keep deviled eggs around for a quick snack.

nope, no Donato's up here in Toledo. Bummer too cause it sounds delish! I make up extra everynite that I cook, so it can be lunch for the next day. Lately I've been having trouble with pork though, sits heavy, goes down but yuck feeling later. Crockpot chicken, ok sounds like dinner tommorrow! I'm not cooking tonight, well except burgers in the George Foreman, gotta take the kid to the ER, he jumped down the steps and landed on the side of his foot. I can't wait for Easter break to be over with! Thanks for the ideas!
